What do you think.

Do you think the Competitive Balance Will Ever Shift in the NBA, where Low Seed Teams can actually Be A Legit Playoff Threat?

I Care, it seems like every Year a Top playoff Seed always wins. I guess Seasonal Record is a great indication, if your going to win or Not..

But, I really want to see a Low Seed Team win it one day. Any Team. It will Send a message to the Rest of the Teams in the Future, Not to lose hope when you reach the playoffs. It'd be really interesting. :D

I'm 18 years old, I'm in good health, and given how modern science and medicine is developing I'd say I have another 70 years or so. Think about that. 70 YEARS!!!!!!! That's 140 different eighth seeds. I'm sure at least one of them will end up being a contender who just had a ton of injuries but got healthy right before the playoffs. It'll happen, not sure when, but it will.

I think Warriors were 8th seed in 1975 when they won the championship. No one ever thought they would end up champions

How was that possible if the 99' Knicks were the First eighth seed team in NBA History to advance to the NBA Finals?

Maybe they were 7th.

No, I think a 6th seed is as good as it will get :)

NY made it to the finals as an eighth seed.
I think it's possible. You either have to have
(A)a super competitive conference like West was a few years ago
(B)A key injury (by key I mean essentially the best player on the team) that drops a contender from a top 3 seed to eighth and comes back healthy right before the playoffs.
(C) combination of the 2?
I think it's possible but VERY unlikely.

It's completely possible.
All it takes is an 8th seed to make it out of the west and the EC team to have injury in the post season.

Not likely, but it's possible.

Correct, an 8th can do it during a perfect storm of injuries. Otherwise, you're 8th for a reason.

Very easily could happen all it would take is a key injury that kept a superstar out for the early part of the season.

Lets say the 2011 - 2012 season is about to start and Lebron and Wade, Pierce, Allen, and Garnet, or Pau, Kobe, and Lamar are injured for 65 - 75 games each.

Those teams will not be world class elite teams in this scenario but have enough talent to toe the line to make a big surge when they come back healthy at the end of the season. They sneak into the playoffs as an 8 seed and are now healthy and one of the best teams in the league again. In this type of scenario I think it could happen.

the NBA is sooo top heavy that i would doubt it would happen

it would take a team like last yrs thunder to do it....very young in experience team with loads of talent that plays over there head

will wee ever see that??? i doubt it

Its a reason why a top seeded team is a top seeded team! Those are where the contenders are at!
