View Full Version : Are this year's Celtics better than '07-'08?

I think they might be. 2010 Rajon Rondo is one of the three best PG's in the league and a legitimately super star, '07-'08 Rondo was too inexperienced to be a big contributor and he did hurt them at times. Shaq gives them an inside scoring option they simply didn't have, Nate Robinson is the guard equivalent, and the big three are playing as well or better than they did in '07-'08. Lawrence Frank has filled in very well for Tom Thibodeau. They're deeper, they have more experience together, and they have 4 stars instead of 3, not to mention they're still getting a big piece back (Kendrick Perkins). I think I have to give it to this year's version.

Bench was better in 07-08 and KG was healthier

IMO its a wash. Rondo is better (even though he still can't shoot), but KG has declined. They have more big man depth but no one to match the 3 point shooting of House/Posey off the bench in 07-08.

It all evens out.

pretty dang equal. Factor in added depth this season, and I may take this years team over 08'.

Yes they are better than '07-'08.

But the East is better too.

Better, they dont even have Perk/Jermaine back yet, add Delonte and I dont see how this isnt the best Celtics team yet. If Ray and Pierce continue to perform as well as they have, then there is virtually no drop off from them in 08. You could argue Pierce is having a career year. All they need is for Shaq to keep this up and they are my favorite for the Finals

I cant believe they Traded House for Nate, after House was a MAJOR bench player that contributed them winning the Finals.

I still cant believe they let House go, in FA to the heat for like the Vet Min.

I guess they really must have liked Nate.

House was a liability, hes not all that good. Look at him waste away on a team with no PG worth a damn

I take this years team. KG is playing as good as his first year. Check the stats. Hes been amazing. Pierce is healthy and playing wonderful basketball. Rondo is an all star PG now and comanding this offense brilliantly. Shaq is still a handful for other C's and were getting J.O and Perk back not 2 mention this Erden fella is filling in nice. This bench is better imo. wISH THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TOMORROW

eh, I don't see how you can be BETTER than being world champs, this team would prob beat that team, if this team is 100% healthy. this is the Deepest team ive ever seen in this league, not the best, but prob the deepest, when healthy...

If healthy i would say..Yes one reason cause Rondo has grown so much and they have a big 4 and not 3 anymore, plus their bench is deeper so i would say yes

Hard to say right now but they are sure deep

yeah theyre better. i cant believe its even in question. this is by far ray allens best year in boston. pierce is still pierce, kg is back to being kg which i didnt think could happen. they have a lot more depth.. especially with the big men. they have tons of experience since 08 mixed with new experienced players. and shaq with his 4 rings.

compare that to bostons of 07-08 with no experince at all. posey with 1 ring and rondo that would be a 75 in nba 2k to a rondo that should be like an 88 now lol.

the only argument u could put up for the 08 team was james posey and possibly slightly better defense

How in the world was the bench better in 2007-2008?

Only a championship this year can draw any comparison so we will have to see how it ends.

Yes. KG, Shaq, Pierce are all playing like there oldselves (Pierce with a TD yesterday!) Bench is alot stronger and has more depth. Rondo is now the centerpiece and not the weakness. This team literally is perfect right now.

do we consider that 10-11 has more chemistry than 07-08? Talent-wise, 07-08 was better imo, but if they faced each other, 10-11 would win 8 out of 10 times

the development of rondo, as well as the deeper bench makes this year better. The only issue is that the same can be said for a lot of the contending teams.

I think so. Rondo has improved drastically since '08, and I think this team is even deeper.

JasonJohnHorn

They may be better (Perkins and Rondo are both better players, Allen is just as good a shooter, which is all he is there for, and while Pierce and Garnett may have come down a bit in terms of productivity, the addition of Shaq, J. O'Neal, Robinson and Daniels, gives this team more options than they have had in the past), but bottom line: The Lakers, are better than they were that year, as are the Mavs, Spurs. And the Heat and HAwks are certainly better, and with the changes the Magic made... they may very well be better to.

So better or not, it may not be enough! Though I would love to watch a 7 game series with them and the Spurs!

Yes they are. The depth is insane.

The only reason I would take the 08 team is that they won a title and this team hasn't

This kinda bogus,The east was a joke the year they won it. Now the East is as deep as west this isn't even a comparison this years team is the Deepest...

And I dare say better when they get the full force back.
