You guys really get carried away with this "chucker" jazz. Kobe? Are you kidding? A legit chucker is someone that just puts up shots with no regard the actual game, score, or flow of offense. AND they don't play D. AND they rarely get assist. Kobe doesn't qualify at all. Rookie Kobe yes. Grown man Kobe, hell to the naw.

A legit chucker is the poor mans Kobe aka the one and only Corey Maggette. Or probably the greatest of all the aforementioned Al Harrington.

Kobe has a true shooting percentage of .55. Thats almost as high as Gasols .57 true shooting percentage. Gasol is considered one of the most efficient offensive players in the game and Kobes % isnt far behind.

So what's your point? Does that make him any less of a chucker. I remember on one occasion he jacked up a shot from behind the basket and hit.

He has a ridiculous shot selection but his straight up talent makes up for it.

The point is that you can't be a "chucker" when you're extremely efficient at scoring the ball. A "chucker" isn't just a player who takes a lot of shot, it's a player who is a volume shooter who hits at low or or inefficient percentage.

The best ways to gauge it is by looking at points-per-shot-attempt and TS%. Bryant averages 1.3 points-per FGA, and a TS% of .55, that's extremely efficient. Demonstrating that Kobe is nearly as efficient as scorer as Gasol, an efficient low-post scorer, debunks the notion that Bryant is a "chucker", by the numbers.

Ridiculous shot selection alone doesn't make a player a "chucker", it's about the numbers and his efficiency.

Actually, Kobe has shot over 46% during six separate seasons (99-02, 07, 09). Perhaps it is you who needs to "type facts". A FG% of 45% is pretty damn good when you also get to the line eight times a game, hitting on 85% of your attempts.

Whether you like it or not, Kobe is efficient. Embrace the fact that TS% and points-per-shot are more revealing statistics than FG% or be left in the dust.

According to what? Through the first 1/3rd of the 2011 season he is posting the 4th highest PER of his career, and his second highest WS/48 minutes of his career.
