Tim Duncans all-star streak in jeopardy?

Look what the man did on a back to back?

Doesnt he deserve to be at the all-star game?

no homers please. thanx.

Go NBA. GO Spurs!

I'm sure he'll get in, even if he doesn't make it on the fan vote. There are other power forwards that deserve to be there too. I would vote Gasol and Nowitzki over Duncan (if I hadn't been a homer and voted for Duncan anyways :laugh2:). He's not putting up the numbers he used to since the Spurs are running more this season, although he did show last night that he still has it. I think he looks better this season than he has the last 2-3 seasons.

He should be named the replacement at center for Yao

I don't think Tim belongs there. Manu should be a shoe-in. Parker may make it as well, but Duncan is not playing like a top 4 forward out west this season

And quite frankly, he would probably be fine with getting the week off

Haha says a guy with Spurs in his name.

He'll probably get put in by the coaches regardless, but I like Chronz's idea of throwing him in at center. Its such a dumb system.

Did you make a Tim Duncan thread, say no homers, and then say go Spurs?

Timmy will get voted by the coaches if he gets no love from the fans.

I mean, All Star fan voting is kind of a joke. Didn't Allen Iverson Start like 2 years ago and Tracey McGrady injured the whole year was about to become a starter?

And Yao Ming EVERY YEAR

I don't think Duncan cares whether he gets into the All Star game or not. Last year he requested that he didn't play very much.

Well to be fair, all the other forwards ahead of him in the voting, deserves an all-star slot more than he deserves it.

Kevin Durant - 27.5 ppg., 6.9 rpg, in 39.5 minutes
Pau Gasol - 19.8 ppg, 11.2 rpg, 4.3 apg, 2.2 bpg, in 38.9 minutes
Carmelo Anthony - 24 ppg, 8.3 rpg, in 35.4 minutes
Dirk Nowitski - 25.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 56.2% FG, 41% 3point FG, in 36.4 minutes

Nowitski is playing as good as ever this season, in my opinion, and even he is only several thousand votes out of the top four forwards in the voting.

regardless of being on a team with a poor record, I think Love is a better candidate as well

Love- 20.3 ppg, 15.6 rpg, 2.12 apg, 35.2 mpg, 40.2% on three's, 88% FT.

I'd take Duncan and his 22-3 record over Kevin Love's 31 and 31 any day. Duncan does whatever he needs to do, when he needs to do it. Look at the last couple of games.

But, some guys like Pau, Dirk and Durant are atleast on his level this year.

come on that's nonsense...love plays for the timberwolves. it's not all on him.

fact is duncan has been rested a lot so far this season and isn't having an all-star campaign. doesn't mean he's lost it (re: last night's game) but he simply is not one of the top-producing "forwards" in the game right now.

durant, dirk, pau, melo, love and griffin are the guys at the top of my list right now.

What Center in the Western Conference is better than Duncan right now?
Nene? Al Jefferson?

I have a feeling the coaches will vote Duncan in as backup Center even though he's on the fan ballot as a Forward.

Advanced stats still have Duncan over guys like Love, Griffin, and even Durant. He's obviously being rested and I don't even care if he's a reserve/sits out. But to argue Love or Griffin are better is nonsense.

that is the only way he will make it. And if he is indeed recognized as a center finally, I will be ecstatic. He has been playing center forever

not saying they're better at all. just better candidates for the all-star game. hopefully he gets that center spot -- it's his real position anyway.

with Manu playing MVP basketball, and that roster, they ought to have a good record.

its not like Duncan is running all over Love here. They are pretty damn comparable. Love has a much better offensive rating, has a rebound rate Duncan has never even touched, and Duncan has the advantage on defense obviously

But Love is doing it in more minutes, and is having a statistically historical season so far.

I would not say Love is "better", but lets face it, he is having a better individual season.

I can accept that. Honestly I thought you were going to come back much more rash.

I can see how people would want to see young guys or player with big stats, but with TD I just think who would I rather have on my team in the finals. And even today, its him. To me, thats an all-star.

We all know that the All star game isn't about individual seasons though. You get a little pass just for being a former all star. It's kind of like the gold glove in baseball. The first one is hard to get, but once you get it they'll keep coming.

um, for sure I would rather have Duncan on my team in the finals. But Love is having games that are just unreal, number wise. Imo, he deserves a spot on the all star team when he is doing things that haven't been done since before many of the players in the league were even born.
