Yao Ming has been diagnosed with another stress fracture in his left ankle, and his future in the NBA is being questioned.

This is the same ankle as his previous fracture, though not the same bone. The gentle giant simply cannot stay healthy, sadly, and he's done for the year. It remains to be seen whether he attempts yet another comeback in 2011 -- in the meantime, Houston will try to survive with Chuck Hayes, Brad Miller, and Jordan Hill as their centers.

Thats unfortunate. Yao will be missed.

Time for the rockets to break the team up. Trade Brooks, Scola, and Martin and rebuild. They should be able to get some good young talent and picks for the three of them.

Thats it... the dude cant even walk around the town without getting injured. I believe his days of being an impact NBA player are done.

What else sucks about this is now Andrew Bynum may start in the allstar game. Imagine having Kobe, Gasol and Bynum all starting. Has a team ever had 3 allstars start in the same allstar game?

And get this it will be in LA.

China will regret over-working Yao during all those summers for Chinese national team games.

Lakers sent four all stars back int he 90's as well.

Yao should look to being a bench warmer.

damn... i really liked yao too...that's what you expect though at 7'6 you can't ask the body to be able to train like a 7'0 guy... he'll be lucky if he lives to be 55... these guys die pretty fast (i'm quite serious btw)look at guys like andre the giant in wrestling... they are diagnosed with heart conditions at really early ages and some other serious stuff... i just hope that it won't limit his everyday life too much.... get well soon yao!

the curse of having a massive body is weakness later in life. he will have a hard road, not just to attempt to stay in the nba but in life in general. sorry to yao fans, but his time is up.

Really hard to hear, not just for his fans but for Yao in general.

He's going to likely have massive health issues for the rest of his life, regardless of whether he plays another game or not. For the sake of his well-being, I hope he decides to stop. I don't want to see anything worse happen to him.

thats sad. yao ming is one of the premier players in our league, and when healthy, the best center in the NBA. Everytime he played Dwight Howard he dominated him, who many think is the best center in the NBA.

Even though Im a Suns fan, Im also a basketball fan, and this is a sad day for a basketball fan to see someone have this happen to them at such a young age.

I wish him well, and who knows maybe hell make a comeback

I think his time in the NBA was still successful. He opened the gates for players to come through China and allowed the NBA to venture over there and make money. Yao was one of my favorite players and human being. All I can say is, thank you for the memories!

Pau will be named as a C most likely since he has played that spot most of the year. Odom has earned the right to be an all star this year over the likes of Love (compare their efficiency and defensive impacts), Randolph, Lee, Milsap, and even Duncan.

Forwards/Centers out west should be
- Durant
- Dirk
- Gasol
- Odom
- Duncan
- ?
- ?

* Melo may be gone by then

Yao Ming simply is too big literally for his own good. He is having these complications cause of his massive size 7'6" (wow). No person should be that big and his body isnt holding up anymore.

Its more than just playing basketball. This should be a concern for his overall quality/length of his life.

Can't he still sign with a contender and just ride the bench? That franchise can probably use the extra endorsements

Just sign the min and get a ring. Kinda bad that Sun Yue became the first chinese player to win a ring.

Of course, Yao probably has too much class to do that... I'm just saying though.
