I'm noticing that many wing players in the league these days have been averaging many rebounds!

Obviously Lebron averages more than 6 with about 7 per game.

I've looked up that Landry Fields fellow everyone talks about and at SG he even grabs 7.5 a game!

To provide a corollary, Brook Lopez grabs 6 rebounds per game as a center.

Kobe is an amazing rebounder for a guard. Considering that he has to fight with Pau and Odom, two of the premier rebounding bigs in the game, and Bynum when he comes back, and he still averages 5-6 boards a game is ridiculous.

What is that based on?
Gerald Wallace - SF, who averaged 10 RPG last season and 8.3 RPG this season. Last years DPOY candidate.
LeBron - SF playmaker, who takes a lot of shots and still can grab a lot of boards, same goes for Wade.

I agree for the Wallace best Sf and Lebron 2nd best. Seeing as Lebron can grab a lot of rebounds, I dont expect him to stay at 6rpg for long. But i would put Landry Fields as best sg rebounder right now. I havent seen a lot of Wade so i cant really judge. But from myself watching fields play, i think imo it would be hard to beat him.

landry is more of a combo sf-sg...

wade is a pure guard.

but anyways... wade has just been rebounding at an absurd rate LATELY... so the OP is probably on him because of that.

And we have the best starting rebounding duo of guards in the NBA.

Russell Westbrook: 5.4 a game
Thabo Sefolosha: 5.5 a game

Total: 10.9 a game

Raymond Felton: 3.8 a game
Landry Fields: 7.5 a game

Total: 11.3 a game

Knicks have the best starting rebounding duo of guards in the league.

Best rebounding wing in NBA is Gerald Wallace, LeBron 2nd. Wade best rebounding SG.

Fields is a better rebounder than Wade.

Evidence: Fields - 7.5 RPG, Wade - 6.5 RPG.

Fields is the best rebounding guard in the ENTIRE league. Guy just has a nose for the ball, similar to Kevin Love.

And he may have the size of a combo SG-SF but he plays 90% of his minutes at the 2 guard.

Fields is a superb player and a great rebounder, but he attempts 2 or 3 times less field goals than Wade, which allows him to stay under the basket and fight for rebounds much more than Wade. Thats why I have Wade over him.

I think Fields numbers will level out and average around 6 a game....

Btw, its pretty sad how the C/PF combo of the Knicks average less rebounds as the PG/SG. I think that has something to do with the fact Fields is getting his rebounds.

I was going to disagree and say Fields is a better rebounder statistically, but I have to admit that you are right. Fields gets more rebounding chances than Wade because he takes so many less shots. I would probably list them as equals though, with Wade getting a slight edge since he has been doing it longer,

Yup based on TRB% this year on the guys named in this thread:

Fields>Wallace>Wade>Sefolosha>Durant>Lebron>Deng>Kobe>Westbrook

Fields, though, is obviously a rookie and likely would be a SF anywhere but NY, so we'll see with him...

Amar'e Stoudemire (9.1 RPG) and Danilo Gallinari (4.7 RPG) combine for 13.8 RPG... Felton and Fields combine for 11.3 RPG.

Good Pickup. I agree with you, Stats dont mean everything. Because as of now Dorrell Wright gets more rebounds than Lebron. And we all know who is a better rebounder.

Nah not now. Amare is starting center with Gallo and Will both in forwards. It is unclear which one is sf and pf seeing as the offense is a 4 out 1 in. Turiaf was starting till he got injured, after that he hasnt been in the starting lineup.

Any team that has a guard averaging 6rpg has a PF/C that is underproducing. I really don't think it's a good thing.

Horrible example. Boozer just came back, which means Deng's numbers will probably be going down. Also, Deng plays the 4 quite a bit so he is definitely only partially a wing player.

Deng is getting his boards, even with Boozer back. He's one of the reasons why the Bulls are #2 in rebounding and #1 in rebound differential.
