I love Bill Simmons jokes, I'm entertained by most of his analysis. He's one of ESPN's best guys. But, do you guys agree he's awful on TV? On PTI, weeks ago, he sounded like a 12 yr old girl. Tonight, he sounds like a wounded hobbit.

What do you think of Bill Simmons in actual sports coverage?

If Buck Martinez can be on TV, why can't Bill Simmons???

love him. Whenever I hear him on TV I always think as if I'm reading his comments in an article...weird.

"He sounds like a wounded hobbit"? lol..

Not the greatest "radio voice", but he always comes with the interesting/entertaining insight. Definitely a fan of mixing in Bill Simmons to the broadcasts.

As long is it's not a permanent gig it's all good. Once in awhile is cool

My assumption is that his TV exposure is more or less a stepping stone/test of his popularity.

Television is not his strong suit, although I do enjoy his columns and podcasts. He's been pretty open about his uncomfortability on TV, though, so I wonder why he's recently been open to it.

Hes the best ESPN writer. Yeah his voice is funny though.

I can understand why people wouldn't like his voice, but his insight is worth it.

If you enjoy his podcast, chances are you loved him tonight. Not sure what the deal is with all the complaints w/ his voice, he sounds normal. He's funny/knows his stuff. Hope he does more games.

I absolutely hated his voice on PTI a couple wks ago, and it was a little annoying tonight but I got use to it as the game went on.

Bill used to be great...just like Colin C
but then ESPN became "TMZ sports edition" and now they are basically neutered

I'll pass. I understand part of his style is that he tries to be funny but sometimes I don't want jokes inserted during the game. I just want insight about the game. Kinda reminds me of that awful idea when the NFL had Dennis Miller on monday night football...

Personally I think Jeff Van Gundy is amazing. He is great and he is tons of unintentional comedy he never TRIES to be funny. I feel no one can give a better insight on a game than an actual past coach.
