theres no way Rivera leaves the Yankees but i was thinking about it and the Angels and Red Sox are probably just trying to drive the price up on the Yankees

if Rivera tells them the Angels/Red Sox offered him 3 years/45M the Yankees have to match

Classy move by Rivera. Took less money and fewer years to stay loyal. Your turn, Captain.

Plus he'd lose his number 42 if he left.

the red sox would have benefited with that move, with jeter they would hurt themselves. its not as good a zinger

Except they didn't drive up the price and the Yankees didn't have to match.

Guess he really didn't want to pitch in Anaheim or Boston.

Mo leaving NY would have sucked. I don't like the Yankees at all but I do like to see a player, especially an all time great, play an entire career for 1 team.

wow thank god rivera turned them down. imagine Mo in a red sox uniform closing out a game at yankee stadium..SMh. If the Red Sox were smart they would offer Jeter a contract and try 2 sign him. He would EASILY make them back their money

As a Sox fan, signing:

Rivera - Yes
Jeter - HELL NO

None of the above would ever happen, but Bard setting up for Rivera would be the sickest 8th & 9th inning knockout punch to there opponents in MLB history, lol.

i think he is grandfathered as 42 if he chooses in until he retires. Mo vaughn was as well as a red sox when he played for them.

BOSTON -- The Red Sox offered reliever Mariano Rivera a two-year, $30 million deal and were prepared to non-tender closer Jonathan Papelbon, according to a baseball source with direct knowledge of the negotiations.

Yankees still need to focus on Cliff Lee.
