Raptors forward Reggie Evans broke his right foot in the team's loss to the Celtics on Friday night.

"The X-rays were positive," coach Jay Triano announced when he met the media. "I have no idea of a time line."

Evans is averaging 4.0 points and 12.1 rebounds for Toronto this season.

I'm crying a little on the inside that I dropped Amir Johnson from my fantasy squad a couple weeks ago.

But in honesty, this is good for the Raptors. If Amir can manage to stay out of foul trouble, he's the much better option in there.

Time for Johnson and the rook to step up

Shame that the Raps lose a guy averaging 12+ rpg

JB, how is this thread worthy? :)

seriously, this isn't the biggest deal. Amir will get a lot more minutes for the developing Raptors now.

Maybe we can now assess whether or not Reggie's rebounding has a negative effect on Bargnani's rebounding. Although Reggie's defensive energy and overall effort will be missed.

Gives more time too Amir Johnson, Ed Davis (when he's back) and for now Peja, all though this sucks and hurts the Raptors, it's probably a good thing for Amir and Davis' development.

Its funny though, I was watching the game when this happened, and everyone was saying it was a knee injury. He tried walking off the court and everything.

Time for Andrea to crash the boards more (8 vs Celtics) and get to the AS game.

honestly i think this helps the raptors in two ways. one our younger pf's get more playing time, two without evans i think this team is going to lose more so we get a higher pick which will hopefully be used to help this team out

Bad for Evans he really dominated the Bpoards, for the Raptors it probably isn't to bad because Amir will get more playing time, and for them it should be all about developing talent because they aren't a factor this year.

Why would'nt it be thread worthy cause he plays for the Raptors. Amare says somthing about how he current coach did'nt teach him much about defense 4 years ago and theres a thread or how Phil Jackson speaks about anything and boom 3 diffrent threads about it but one of the top rebounders in the league breaks his foot and it's not thread worthy come on.

I think it blows because Reggie was a beast on the boards for us..but it helps our top lottery pick chance.

to be honest, when i saw this posted in the NBA forum i thought...oh man I hope to baby jesus that the thread starter is not a Raptors fan

but then I saw it was not, and I figure that I guess this thread brings out many things

1) if people around the league are paying attention much to the raptors
2) what people other than the raptors think how Evan's injury would affect the raptors
3) usually injuries are more significant when that player is on a good team, are people around the league thinking the raptors are good?

also this could potentially make Reggie expendable

think about it, if say Bargnani rebounding goes up and Amir's skyrocketed, along with Ed Davis puting up numbers similar to Amir before Reggie got injured...

MrfadeawayJB

That might hurt their toughness on the boards

Btw, this thread is better than Heat fans posting that Dexter Pittman has been sent to the D-League. So I don't see an issue with this being a thread. Reggie Evans is among the league leaders in rebounds, and he's holding down the fort defensively for the Raps.

Reggie Evans..... Out with a broken foot. This injury will end the Raptors chance of winning the NBA championship.

You can walk on lots of fractures. I shattered both my heels a few years ago and tried walking for about 2-3 days after my doctor incorrectly diagnosed it as plantar fasciitis. Hurt like hell, but I could walk.

Sucks for them but I wanted to see what happens to Amir when hes forced into longterm action.

No fan wants to see a player go down unless hes cancerous, but its Reggie Evans. Its not as if they are losing Ben Wallace here.

this.

U should expect crap like that from the NBA forum though. If it doesn't involve Chicago, Miami, or LA, it's irrelevant.

being a pistons fan i worry about this. i watched amir struggle in detroit even when they'd give him 30 minutes a night, hopefully he's matured

Obviously karma from what he did to Kaman a few years back.

Funny thing is, Amir isn't even starting today. It's Joey Dorsey.
