Looks like reality has hit him...and hard. Last week it was known that he wanted 3/33. Any team in the NL getting him on a 1 year deal is getting a steal. He will be great this year.

Javier Vazquez wants a one-year deal, according to ESPN.com's Jayson Stark. The right-hander could be looking to re-establish his value and hit the open market a year from now in search of a bigger payday.

Vazquez has turned down at least one offer worth about $20MM over two years, according to Stark. The Nationals, Cubs and Rockies have expressed interest in Vazquez, but another club appears to be in the lead for his services.

Talks with the Marlins have gotten "hot," according to Stark. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports confirms on Twitter that the sides had extensive discussions about a deal. We heard last week that there's mutual interest between the team and the pitcher, partly since the Marlins play relatively close to Vazquez's native Puerto Rico.

The Yankees offered Vazquez arbitration, but he appears to have agreed to turn it down and, because he is a Type B free agent, no team will have to surrender a pick to sign the 34-year-old.

Hopefully the Marlins get him then trade Nolasco + Gaby and a bunch of other prospects for Justin Upton

I see him ending up with either the Marlins or the Nationals. Florida for the reasons mentioned above, and the Nationals because they do need pitching, and he'd do well with them.

Not only is Vazquez interested in us for the reasons in the OP, but supposedly he and Edwin have known each other since Vazquez was like 14.

Detroit might consider a 1 year deal

Maybe, but even an idiot can see that he has more success in the National League than in the Junior Circuit. If he's in it for money right now, why not just stay with the Yanks? He's looking to build his rep back up, and he won't be able to pull that off in Detroit like he could with a team like Florida or Washington.

Not saying that it couldn't happen, but I don't see him ending up in Detroit. Don't think I really want him here either.

I would count on the Nationals to pick him up after this

The 3/$33 was later said to be not true. That the writer who wrote the article went from saying he wanted 3/33 to not knowing any money figures at all. It was fishy when it happened. I'll take it with a grain of salt until a deal is done.

I don't think the dude sucks. I wish the Brewers would make a stab at him.

If he plays for a small market, national league team who isn't a serious contender, he may be fine.

He is a year removed from being 3rd in the NL CY voting. NY was dumb to try and bring him back. Vazquez's velocity did drop but I think he would be fine in a pitcher's park like Florida's.

He better go back to the NL East, you see how he did in the AL East

joke if you want... I think this could be a match on a 1 year deal... don't discount the Mets if Javy would have them...

I don't think Vazquez wants anything to do with NY anymore.

Vazquez on a 1-year deal isn't bad, but buyer beware. His velocity has dropped quite a bit between '09 and '10.

Quite honestly, I think he could turn it around in the NL. His velocity dropped last year and struggled mightly, but the most important thing is that he cannot handle the AL (much less the Yankees). If he were to go to a team like the Marlins or Nationals, don't be surprised if Vazquez pitches well.

I think Vasquez would be a good fit for the Nationals. He's a great NL pitcher and could do good things with the Nats.

That was a false rumor, Javy even last year said he wants to go on a yearly basis and even mentioned retiring at one point.

Let's not turn a rumor into the truth pls.

I would not give Javier Vasquez poop in a blanket if I were an American League team. If he goes to the National League where 95% of the players don't know what a baseball bat is then he might be alright.

You should change your name to "Vazquez Sucks". Just saying... he sucks.
