2K Sports has announced that Roy Halladay will be the cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K11, aka MLB 2K11, and are predicting he will win the 2010 NL Cy Young Award.

“In the ‘Year of the Pitcher’, Roy has truly distinguished himself as the best pitcher in baseball,” said Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development for 2K. “Between his dominating season that included baseball’s 20th perfect game, and his exciting performance during the postseason, we believe there is no player more worthy of representing our revolutionary pitching mechanic on the cover of Major League Baseball 2K11 than Roy Halladay.”

MLB 2K11 will be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation Portable and Windows PC in 2011. This will be the first time the game is not available on the PlayStation 2.

Major League Baseball 2K11 Announces Roy Halladay as Cover Athlete

2K Sports predicts Halladay will win Cy Young Award tomorrow.

NEW YORK, Nov 15, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — 2K Sports announced today that they have named Philadelphia Phillies(TM) ace pitcher, Roy Halladay, as the cover athlete for their upcoming video game Major League Baseball(R) 2K11, the next iteration of the popular Major League Baseball 2K series. Halladay, who this season became one of only 20 pitchers in Major League Baseball history to throw a perfect game, continues 2K Sports’ tradition of bringing today’s premier players to the most realistic sports simulation titles available. Despite gracing the cover of this year’s title and having a phenomenally successful year, Halladay remains humbled at 2K Sports’ prediction that he will win the National League Cy Young Award tomorrow for his impressive feats on the mound.

“I’m honored to be on the cover of Major League Baseball 2K11,” said Halladay, who also pitched a no-hitter in this year’s Major League Baseball postseason. “I’m not one for predictions, but should 2K Sports be right about tomorrow, well, that would be a great way to end the year.”

If Halladay wins the National League Cy Young Award tomorrow, he will also become the fifth pitcher to win the coveted award in both leagues, as he previously won it in 2003 while a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. Halladay was recently honored by his peers, when he was named the 2010 Players Choice Award winner for the National League Outstanding Pitcher. One of the most dominant and consistent pitchers of his era, Halladay is an especially appropriate representative for the Major League Baseball 2Kseries’ Total Control Pitching mechanic, which gives players an unprecedented level of control and accuracy on the mound.

The best baseball video games are 1994's Major League Baseball featuring Ken Griffey Jr. (SNES) and 1997's Major League Baseball Ken Griffey Jr. for N64. God-like games.

I loved 2k10 on my 360. Me n my buddy play that game whenever we get a chance to. I liked it more than the show for the ps3 so much i traded it in 2 days ago for Black ops on saturday. Im gettin 2k11 fo sure

2k has come a long way from the awful 2k8 game and people should really give it a try.

BTW Halladay is the best =D

I recently play a demo and after I learned how to pitch it was actually pretty enjoyable. I absolutely hated the older versions though. Complete garbage.

Wrong, Longoria was on 2K10 and had very good season, I believe. Lincecum was on 2K9 and won the Cy Young? Yeah. :)

I was thinking Posey might have a shot. Would be a bit of a gamble, but a solid choice IMO. Hamilton would be good as well.

Ahh, my mistake. Either way Lincecum won his 2nd straight Cy Young in 09' and Longoria had a pretty good year around .300 with 100 RBI.

Who cares about 2Ks cover.

Is there any features listed yet for the game? Hopefully the gameplay gets a rehaul or major fix or something. I miss MVP 05. Good game. MLB 2k11 will probably be another let down but i pray for changes

This guy is the best. Good job Doc!

That game needs a serious overhaul. Maybe this year? 2 years ago it was worse than an Atari game, last year was an improvement, but still had a ways to go. Let's hope they blew the damn thing up this time.

IMO 2k10 pitching > the show pitching
But the hitting, graphics and gameplay could get better.

I hope they keep improving the game.

From my personal experience i hated all 2k games until recently. MLB2k10 was a pretty good game i really like pitching & hitting got really fun once you understand how to hit.

My roommate recently bought NBA2k11 and it was another amazing game from 2k.

If 2k continues the recent trend of making each game better than the last they could really make MLB2k11 a great game.

completely agree... even the TV coverage of 2K10 (on MLB Network) in comparison to what The Show displayed during the Playoffs... night and day.

For the Record, MVP 04 (EA Sports) was the BEST game since Baseball Stars.

2K series sucks for baseball. If you have both a PS3 and 360 there is no reason to pick up any 2K series baseball game. High Heat baseball was the best video game baseball series by far. Much more realistic than it's competitors during it's time.

Why would Chase Utley be any where near a video game cover which represents a great year for a player?

MLB 2k10 seemed to get the gameplay down perfectly. Hopefully they can work on the graphics (mainly the field, players are fine). It's just too dang colorful. If they made the dirt not a bright orange the game would actually look good. I turn my TV contrast down to 40% and it looks 100x better.

2k gameplay >>>> the Show. The Show's graphics are just so ****ing amazing that it makes it a much better game. The umpires are also better and make realistic attempts to get out of the way. 2k needs to step up the graphics, add errors, then it's a very good game.

Even so, the Phillies' entire 40-man roster would have to be on the cover of a 2k game and Charlie Manuel would need to break a mirror by throwing a black cat through a large ladder before luck was able to pave a path large enough for the Mets to move into third place.

I knew someone was going to post this if I got quoted :D I also miss Judgment Day. I was referring to High Heat Baseball 2003 and 2004 for the PS2 which was the pinnacle of the series and actually very good games. Unfortunately 2004 was the last in the series. 3DO got the gameplay part down while sacrificing on the visuals and it was known to be the most realistic baseball game for those two years. Both games have an average rating of 84% on game rankings. Not the flashiest game during it's time but trumped everyone else in realistic gameplay.
