#Padres relievers Ryan Webb and Edward Mujica will go to the Marlins, with Maybin going to San Diego.

Love the deal from the Marlins perspective. Finally just decided to admit a mistake and fixed our biggest problem in the bullpen with 2 control guys. Love it. Padres got a potential stud.

Good trade for the Padres. Maybin never impressed in Florida, and Diego will give him a new start.

if, as some are reporting, it is frieri for the padres instead of webb, it would be an even better deal. marlins actually doing something to imporve the pen, i love it. now just trade leo nunez for a lefty reliever or something and we have ourselves a really good team.

Could be a very good trade for both teams. As has been mentioned, the Marlins get some much-needed bullpen help and the Pads get a potential game-changer. I hope Maybin gets it together and shows his talent there.

I dont fathom how this guy was gotten for Miggy. Who is a top 5 hitter in the MLB:facepalm:

Don't forget Andrew Miller. At the time of the trade I thought Miller and Maybin was an awesome trade for the Marlins.

Maybe because, at the time, he was an elite prospect? Hindsight is 20/20.

Maybin can now suck coast to coast.

Just another example of trading a star for prospects in which the prospects do not turn out to be good.

I like it for SD. They gave up BP arms for a guy w/ high potential. I like it for FLA too because God do they need BP help.

The reason this trade was made with Migs is because we got 2 of the top prospects in baseball. Maybin was a stud. He hit a 500 ft HR at 18. Miller was a projected Ace. They just never panned out in the Marlins system. I actually thought the Marlins won that trade at the time as their combined value should have been better then Migs. An Ace and a star CF is a steal. He is still a stud in the minors:

.306 Avg and .393 OBP is a good career line. He is also a plus defender.

Miller's stats:

He was the 6ht overall pick in 2006.

The Marlins should have traded Cabrera to the Angels. They would have gotted a better package. Howie Kendrick, Brandon Wood, Mike Napoli... and Nick Adenhart

Haha, I had to do it just to bust Marlins' fans' balls. It's such a ridiculously small sample size. :laugh2:

WEBB ( a potential BIG TIME closer) for a has been lead off man that strikes out a lot and hit .224? Why didn't we just keep Tony Jr.? He is a better defensive CF, and faster.

I have fond memories of trying to discuss the proposed packages for Santana with a Mets fan and him swearing up and down that Carlos Gomez was a 30 home run hitter.

I think this was a great move for the Padres who are on a very tight budget. They bought very low on a 23 year old stud.

I think you left out a very important word. He has shown very little in FLA.

I remember having the same argument with someone at Dugout Central. It was very entertaining:)

This. I'll be rooting for Maybin to come through, but I don't know if he will anymore. I don't believe in the whole change of scenery thing.

Hopefully this is the wake up call Maybin needs. The guy is to talented to be a bust.

That's what we thought about Jeremy Hermida, too.
