The Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard and the New Orleans Hornets' Chris Paul today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Nov. 1, through Sunday, Nov. 7.

Howard's Magic finished the week 3-0, with victories over Minnesota, New Jersey, and Charlotte. Howard averaged 23.3 points, 13.4 rebounds, and tallied 11 blocks on the week. On Tuesday versus the Timberwolves, Howard set a Magic franchise record for most blocked shots in a quarter with six, breaking his previous record of five in a quarter.

Paul led the Hornets to a 3-0 week, averaging 17.3 points on .514 shooting from the field, 11 assists and 3.7 steals. Paul's double-double on Friday helped New Orleans defeat the Miami Heat 96-93. In the win, Paul compiled 13 points, 19 assists, and five steals. Paul's effort helped spark the Hornets to a 6-0 record, the best start to a season in franchise history.

Gasol and Paul should have tied and both won...

Gasol put up huge numbers this week but CP helped his team beat the heat.

Why wasnt Gasol a nominee? Its one thing to post two 20-10 games, one 30 point game, and a triple double game and not win but to not be nominated? wtf? is there a new rule where a player can not win consecutive player of the week awards? .....He'll win player of the month anyways! :D

CP3 has been playing out of his mind and has his team undefeated.

It was between Gasol and Chris [imo], can't go wrong with either.

Nice to see Dwight get some recognition as well.

The Hornets are undefeated because of Paul and he's put up some incredible numbers in the past week whilst beating the Heat.

Gasol won it last week. Why is everyone crying about it?

Pau is playing ridiculous ball, but CP3 is leading a Hornets team (if you want to call them that) to an undefeated record while also playing insane ball.

On the other side, Dwight got 6 blocks in one quarter? WTF :speechless:

I am really starting to become a huge fan of Howard. I love what he brings to the table night in and night out. He has a great bounce back week after a very rough first few games.
