Is it under 26 or is it 26 and younger? Cain and Lincecum are 26. I voted Felix

it's tough to call because you could interpret this thread as who has been the best pitcher or who is the best young pitcher going forward. i don't really think you can make an argument for anyone but lincecum for what they've done in the past. going forward is a completely different story, where you couldn't go wrong with felix, greinke, kershaw, latos or a few others

I think its close between Felix, JJ, and Lester. Then Lincecum.

I'm a Sox fan and am really excited to have Lester and Bucholz starting at the top of the Boston rotation. That being said... Lincecum. No question. He's the most dominant pitcher in baseball when he's on. He's 26 already, so Felix, Lester, or Bucholz would be my answer if the Freak wasn't erroneously included on this list, but if Lincecum's on there I gotta go with 2 straight Cy Young's and a post season that included beating Roy Halladay in the NLCS, and Cliff Lee twice, not to mention winning the World Series. If he left the Giants as a free agent and signed with Boston I wouldn't stop drooling forever.

King Felix, if he played on a team with an offense he'd win 25 games a year, that long haired fellow that just won the series is pretty amazing too.

Really anyone who has said someone other than Felix or Lincecum is just wrong...MAYBE Lester or JJ but its between Felix and Lincecum. I picked Timmy but it would be scary to think what a guy like Felix would do playing on a team that could hit.

The Cy Youngs DO mean something but let's not forget that Felix has had Cy Young caliber seasons 2 years in a row now. Is Curt Schilling a lesser pitcher because he never won a Cy? he just had bad luck of coinciding with Randy and God mode Santana.

Just saying, not to focus so much on the hardware. So I say Felix.

Based on potential and age as of today it's probably Kershaw. Based on actual performance up until today it's Lincecum and it's not all that close.

NCBoSoxfan21

Kershaw has the potential to be better than Lester, but right now, it's not really a contest. Lester is probably top 5 SP in the MLB over the past two or three seasons.

quiksilver2491
03-12-2011, 04:43 PM
I could understand taking Kershaws potential in a few years over Lester, although I wouldn't necessarily agree with it...however there is no question Lester has been the better pitcher.

Over the last 3 years Lester has posted 49.8, 59.9 and 51.5 RAA (runs above average).

That mark puts him amongst the best in the game, only trailing Halladay, Lee, Lincecum, Greinke, Sabathia, and Verlander in that order.

Kershaw isn't close to that level quite yet, posting a 39 and 43.4 RAA as a full-time starter over the past 2 seasons.

Right now, its between Felix and Timmy. Over the last 3 years, they have been literally dead even, with more K's for Timmy and a higher ERA+ for Felix.
I'd take Felix but Lincecum is on the cusp of not being in this discussion, whereas Felix is going to be 25 in April. Felix has been better and better every year and I don't think that we have seen the best of him yet.

In the future I think its going to be between Felix and Kershaw. Kershaw has filthy stuff and is still so young.

Maybe...

I personally think Romero is better and will be in the future. Especially considering their divisions. I wonder how their respective parks factor in as well. Dodger stadium is typically pitcher friendly park.

i like romero but pitching in the east is a big disadvantage compared to pitching in the NL west.
