Matt Hasselbeck's #s from his first 3 starts in Seattle. Just giving you all a reminder of what it was like when Matt started out here as we enter a new era of trying out a new QB.

1st start:
9/9/2001 at Cleveland

Seattle won 9-6

Matt: 20/34 178 yds 58.8% comp. 0 TD 2 int 4 sacks Rating: 48.4

2nd start:
9/23/2001 vs. Philadelphia

Philadelphia won 27-3

Matt: 9/24 62 yds 37.5% comp. 0 TD 0 int. 7 sacks Rating: 45.8

3rd start:
9/30/2001 at Oakland

Oakland won 38-14

Matt: 14/28 167 yds 50% compl. 0 TD 1 int 6 sacks Rating: 53.7

The following two weeks, Trent Dilfer started and won both games. It was an up and down season. We went 9-7 with 5 wins belonging to Matt and 4 belonging to Dilfer.

Hopefully Whitehurst does better then what Matt did 2 of those games looked terrible. Just so people know im not rooting against Whitehurst but im not going to get excited either and set myself up for a let down atleast he can evade defenders better then Matt.

I know i stick up for Matt but thats only because i don't think we have a better option at QB and we need to look at the draft. Ill reserve my judgement till after the game though maybe he can be our future but i didn't like what i saw in preseason.

Fair assessment. I wasn't trying to call you out in another thread, it just seemed like you were putting down Charlie before he even got a shot. I recall several pepole doing the same to Matt when he came to SEA and while its completely unfair, it's human nature.

If he doesn't pan out, then we can look at the situation and assess from there. If he happens to work out, we have an NFL ready starting QB that we got for a 3rd rd pick!

To say you didn't like what you saw in preseason is just wrong. He wasn't with the first team offense, and he only played 6 quarters.

Let the record show that just as Dilfer got 4 wins on his way out, Matt has 4 wins this year. Maybe things coming full circle(just hopefully slightly better play from Whitehurst).

Not sure what you mean. That was Dilfer's first year here (he was here from 2001-2004) and then he played for the Browns and 49ers from 05-07.

You're not sure what he means? C'mon man. Don't play dumb.

Not playing dumb. I know he means Matt's on his way out. That's not what I was referring to. I don't know what he means by Dilfer being on his way out. The 4 wins he's referring to Dilfer getting were in Dilfer's 1st of 4 years with the Seahawks and 8th of 14 seasons overall. He was hardly on his way out.

Fair enough but why couldn't he move the ball against 3rd stringers in the last preseason game? His deep ball is his best attribute he has a hard time making short-intermediate throws and he likes to lock on to 1 reciever. But like i said ill judge him after the game.

I have been waiting all year to see a deep ball. We know Matt won't be throwing one LOL. We got some speed and a big WR in BMW (if he plays). I hope we can do some things and catch the Giants off guard a bit. We have beat them here before.

With the deep ball, BMW and Butler will DESTROY secondaries.

While learning a new offense.

New team, new offense, dif way of doing things, just take your pick. Can't game plan for preseason as is, then throw in new QB with pretty much entirely new receivers all trying to learn.
