So during the course of the off season we had several threads of posters choosing their MIP for this season. I wanna know thus far how your guys picks are looking. My homer pick Elton Brand (its not going to happen duh) looks pretty solid. My real pick Tyrus Thomas really hasn't shown any real improvement thus far but I was banking on him becoming a full time start this season for the Bobcats.

Paul Millsap, Andrea Bargnani, Luis Scola were all popular picks who are figured to continue a high level a production. Dorell Wright has come out of virtually no where but he's figured to fall back down to earth in the not to distant future.

So how are your guys picks doing thus far?

Scola looks like the obvious choice so far but DeRozan could get some consideration as he looks very good so far in his 2nd year.

I think there are guys that are having much more productive starts than Chandler. But good name to throw out there.

My picks were Dorell and Beasley... my two favorite players.

I feel pretty good about these picks at this point.

Augustin added 7.6 ppg to his average, doubled his assists and then some. Same with rebs. That's a greater improvement for the average fan than any other player, minus Dorrell.

My pick 6th man pick, Lou Williams, could also fit in to MIP. Usually it seems they give most improved to a guy who has a dramatic spike in his numbers, but Lou Will just looks the best I've ever seen him. Instead of trying to be the team's PG like he was asked to do last year, he is thriving as the primary scorer off the bench(really the best scorer on the team). He was the #1 High School player in the country the year he was drafted and he is just scratching his potential. In my opinion he is the most competitive player on the Sixers(maybe Evan Turner or Andres Nocioni is close), and he just wants to win. He drew comparisons to Ai when he was drafted, and he looks more like his idol every year.

18ppg 4.2apg 1.2reb in 26 minutes this season

He has gotten better every year, his scoring average from his rookie year on looks like this:

1.9ppg

4.3ppg

11.5ppg

12.8ppg

14ppg

18ppg

If you don't know about this guy, you most certainly will when he plays your team. I think that if the Sixers find a way into the playoffs, he should be considered for 6th man of the year, and/or Most Improved.

And to the orginal poster, I'm lovin Elton Brand this year, but I don't know if most improved would be the right award for him. It's not like he hasn't done this for most of his career, so I think comeback player of the year is more appropriate.

Once Ibaka gets the starting spot he deserves, I'll be right.

If he wasn't a starter, he could be a 6th man, but he starts.

Hickson, and he's looking good.

I think I went with Hickson, at least. It was down to him and McGee. I don't know who I decided on.

Way too early to tell, too many candidates, batum started off the season just flat out tearing it up then went into a slump for the next 3 games, this will happen to a lot of these guys.

My guess would be that Hickson wins it, he is the main guy on that team, his #'s last year were OK but they were low so he is gonna have the highest % spike among all of these guys most likely and that will be looked at strongly, although I don't really agree with it.

The best way to look at MIP is by production per 48min not by production per game which is always what is looked at by the so called experts

Love Ibaka, he is such a beast.

Yeah, Ibaka is very quickly becoming a fan favorite. Once Brooks finally gets off of Kristic's dick and let's Ibaka start, people will realize how talented this kid is.
