Did Tmac need to have surgery in 2009 or could he have healed without it?

Seriously and I hate to admit it, but this guy is done now. The last few teams he has been on he has barely even played. And he goes from playing like a borderline allstar in 2009 to the having a major surgery. Why in the world did he decide to have that surgery when he could play on it anyway?

probably because the doctor told him too. It was sad watching TMac on the Knicks lasted year. Too bad him and Yao never got a shot.

Jb? What's wrong with you? The last few teams? He was only good for the Magic and the first few seasons for the Rockets. Funny, this off season you were creaming in your panties for him to join the Bulls.

That's not true.. if you watched him play you would notice he showed glimpses of his former allstar self

Didn't he shut himself down in 2008-09 by refusing to be traded from Houston and went to go have surgery (without informing the team until the last second) so that no team would want to trade for him? I hate this guy.

Thread should be changed to "Did T-Mac need to retire in 2009?"

If that were the topic, there really wouldn't be anything to discuss.

McGrady is taking playing time away from our young players. He's scored 2 points so far in 3 games. He is still clearly not healthy.

I will say his defense and passing have been top notch though. His offensive IQ is very high. He just looks like he is scared to take a shot. I think he's only taken 6 shots so far in 3 games. I believe he's averaged around 15 mins a game so far. He is working out with Arnie Kander (one of the league's best strength and conditioning trainers). Many people even think that is why McGrady signed with us.

McGrady doesn't even look like 1/16th of his former self...Oh Well, at least we didn't overpay him!

If I watched him play? I did. He was a Rocket. I watched every game he's played for the last five years. All 94 of them. He showed ZERO glimpses of his former all star self since 07/08.

Who was the poster that said Tmac would average 15+ this season?

I'm not ashamed to say that I honestly think he'll play a productive 20 mins per game this year. He'll never be the same as he was in 07 but if he can avg. 10ppg and mentor some of the younger players, he's worth what they paid

Chronz thought he'd average 30 ppg, 17 rebounds, 13 assists, 7 steals, win the gold medal for the 100 meter breast stroke, cure cancer, be awarded the Purple Heart, and fix Detroit's economy.

Yeah . Many of my follow Piston fans love this guy. He was signed for the MLE. But I still and have always believed he is taking time form young players when they need all they can get. I predicted the Pistons would win at tops 32 games this year. One poster on our site predicted he would average 22 ppg. I said he would be lucky to play 22 games.
We have players like Hamilton and Prince that can mentor Daye. Even Big Ben .

Sep's sig says it all.

If a guy is 6'7 and can't dunk a ball anymore, then he needs surgery.

Dont know why people are so surprised... We have entered a new era with Lebron, Wade, Melo, D12, CP3, and Durant is leading

Shaq, AI, TMac, VC, Jermaine O'Neal, Elton Brand, Marbury are done... Not too long before Boston's Big 3, Kobe, Nash, Dirk, Duncan, and Kidd are gone also

I think he would not have been the same player either way. If there is anything to look forward to it's him taking the path of his former teammate Grant Hill who has made it back from injury and has become a solid role player.

That's not true... I watched a few games when he played with the knicks and he did show some signs of trying to "come back to life" in a sort of way
