Terrance Williams

Sleeper: JaVale McGee

Could see him having a strong 11/11/2 type season and getting some votes.

Would voters consider Paul Millsap for MIP even though he has somewhat shown what he can do but now he is a full time starter? I also like the McGee pick.

marlinsfan24

Michael Beasley.

Book it.

BillyHoyle35
10-21-2010, 08:39 PM
J.J Hickson has to be a frontrunner. just a lot of touches and time to be had at the cleveland and he is there main youngster really who will get a lot of time.

Hickson, Beasley, McGee, T-Will, Derozan,

My pick from the Bulls would be James Johnson (if we give him enough minutes)...He has looked much improved this preseason. Combined with losing a lot of weight and now being mentored by Pippen, JJ can emerge.

^This.

Or, to be more homerish - Love.

I will back both up: Beasley is a former 2nd pick with all the potential in the world. He finally is out of Wade's shadow and has been forced to mature over the last couple years. He's got talent no doubt and should benefit from a size advantage at the 3. I'm not saying he'll be a star but dramatic statistical improvement definitely is a possibility.

Love had the frontcourt opened up for him this summer with the trade of Big Al. The wolves set him up with a defensive-minded center to defend the rim. And the offense they employ is geared toward passing and shooting which are areas that Love excels in. The biggest difference for him will be the minutes and the starting role, not sharing the paint. If he can carry over the kind of stats he's put up in pre-season, http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=301017016 he won't just be an all-star, but MIP too.

1. Beasley playing alongside Wade never prevented him from chucking, if he improves it wont be because of that.

2. Love should improve but more playing time doesnt mean you improved, it just means you got more time to do what youve always been capable of. I really wish more people would keep this in mind when creating these list.

My dark horse pick is Demar Derozan.

as a raptors fan he hasnt been playing great, he does have potential

but i feel that our amir johnson and bargnani have a better chance due to the absence of chris bosh

Since we are all pretty much picking guys from our favorite team, I will go with Blair. Has worked on his jumper a lot this summer, and got his body fat % down from 14 to 8. Also lost 15 pounds to make him quicker.

Him starting this season I think will allow him to put up stats that will make him a contender for the award.

Klove, Beasley, Derozan, Hickson are all capable of it.

Imo it's going to be JJ Hickson.

arkanian215
10-22-2010, 12:13 PM
I'm gonna say Augustin cuz he had a bad year last year. 6.4ppg 2.4 apg .386 FG%. etc. I'd say he'd raise his scoring by 6-7 ppg, assists by 3-4. That's a bigger improvement than Hibbo, Love or Beasley. Those three will likely have better stats than Augustin but Augustin imo will have the greatest improvement from last year -> MIP. Having the starting gig in Charlotte ain't bad either.

DoJoTheSlasher
10-22-2010, 03:53 PM
Roddy Beaubois, he is gonna avg about 25 mpg this year. JJ Hickson is also a frontrunner. Jamison is the 6th man while JJ starts.

What I understand is NBA voting. Rookie of the Year, MVP, MIP, ect. aren't exactly scientific and you shouldn't get confused by the names. Stat differentials, especially in ppg, is what generally gets someone an MIP.

Playing w/o Wade should be more of a mental thing for Beasley - he can think he's the star... whether he really is or not.

^yeah, but is he always going up against good players? alot of the time in preseason, half the time you play your going up against backups that wont get many minutes this year/people trying to make the team.

FarOutIos
10-23-2010, 06:52 PM
1) There are no "sleeper" picks for MIP... MIP is a "sleeper" pick by definition. So, please, don't try and take the pressure off your pick by diffusing the burden.

2) We cannot truly tell after some preseason games. Every year, someone gets all hyped up during preseason, and comes out a dud. Likewise, there are those who get the hype and actually produce. It's all just a guessing game. Will the coaches continue trends displayed in preseason... was the lower competition enhancing a players numbers... etc, etc.

3) The MIP is usually just a factor of a player getting much more PT and scoring opportunities. So it would probably be a player from a team like Cleveland... probably Hickson or Moon. I'd say Moon.

at the same time is he always gonna be playing with quality players beside him that can help him out? 10 assists in the preseason is crazy especially considering he's a sg...you have to respect that
