Other players that popped into my head when I read the thread title were:

Terrence Williams
Anthony Randolph
JJ Hickson

Hasheem Thabeet
James Harden
Michael Beasley

I think Hickson, McGee and Beasley are primed to have a legit breakout, though.

He was pretty shaky in the beginning, but had a random triple double a couple games ago (something like 18,12,11) and a solid game against Boston, so he seems to be gaining stride.

I'd be happy with 14 and 8 this year with good defense. He's still only 20.

have you seen his outlet passing? While I agree more should be mentioned, there isn't a player who comes close in modern basketball to Love's outlet passing ability. Even all the Team USA guards commented on it, saying, "you just run, full speed, and turn, and the ball is in your chest". On top of that, he can throw the ball 90 feet with the flick of a wrist.

I'm rooting hard for Greg Oden, which is weird, because I hated him coming out of college and thought he would be a bust. I don't feel the same way any more.

And I hope Jameer Nelson reminds the league that he is an all-star caliber player, and the second best player on his team (and that's not a bad thing for Orlando). He won't make the all-star game over Rose, Rondo, Jennings etc...but he is one of the few 50/40/90 potential guys in the league when healthy. Hard not to be homeristic.

I'm secretly rooting for Amare to beast this year.

Rondo too, I love him. I smell a 16/10/5 year from him.

Derrick Favors cuz hes potential is ridiculous! With Dwight Howard comparisons this kid could be amazing or horrible. I'm hoping he'll reach his potential cuz he's a really a great kid. Extremely shy, humble beyond belief, very hard working... No rookie deserves it more than him

I don't think he'll ever reach his immense potential. Very low IQ. Does he even realize that if he just worked on his jumper he would be unstoppable. I don't get that kid. He spends more time making stupid fashion statements and twittering than working on that shot. He's pretty good now but he could be so much better if he just wasn't such a dam kid

I of course would like to see some Rockets show some potential...namely Jordan Hill, Buddinger, and Patrick Patterson. All of them are potentially very solid players in this league with Bud already showing something last year. Hill looks like a bust so far, but he's still young and hopefully puts it together this year.

As for the rest of the NBA...the one guy I really want to see break out is Anthony Randolph. This guy has shown flashes of absolute brilliance. Under the Knicks offense I'm really interested to see what this guy can do. Very gifted athlete, but just hasn't put it all together.

McGee, Love, Beasley, Wall, Griffin, and Curry are others I'm interested in watching develop...I also really like Gordan Dragic...random...but I think he has some potential, and he's fun to watch.
