I like the idea of signing this guy. His option was not picked up by the tigers. He is comming off ankle surgery but he is a player that is medium risk high reward. I would sign him to play Right/DH, while we move Bautista to 3B.

Next year a lineup of

Escobar
Ordonez
Wells
Bautista
Lind
Hill
Snider
Arencibia
DH/1B- possibly Overbay

I like that lineup

its not a terrible idea but doesnt really help us going forward

Does he bat left? We really need another one of those.

However he's not the type of high potential, athletic guys that AA seems to be going after, even though I wouldnt mind him added to the lineup.

i had him in a pool, last year... he played really well until the injuries piled up..

I've seen him alot in Detroit the last 2 years and IMO he can't catch up anymore. I say no.

I'd rather keep Jose in RF and target Alex Gordon at 3B. His trade value would have to be at the lowest point and with a change of scenery......

I dunno about him. He is a great player and his consistent .300 BA with pretty nice power numbers would be a big bonus to our team. But, he is injury prone, he is 36, I am not sure he can still field that well anymore. If we could sign him very cheap, like a few million, I would be willing to give him a chance and if its a fail move him or release him. But, we don't know what kind of money he will want and chances are he wants more then a 1 year deal. But he would be a good player if cheap and healthy to have while continuing to develop our young players kind of like what John Buck was for us this year.

I don't mind picking him if he is coming super cheap, but I have no use for him if he is at all overvalued.

Ordonez is interesting but he's been injured the past few years and he's not gonna play a ton of games. Depends on the price, but he's someone who might be better off DHing at this point. I'd rather see the Jays buy low on Berkman and have him DH or play first. He's definitely someone who'd take a one year deal to build back his value and after seeing how Bautista did it'd be pretty easy to convince him to come for a year. Unless he's dead set on staying in the Texas area.

id sign him as the DH (but at a fair price)
however i wouldnt have him batting second.

the jays do need some speed though so i dont know if he is the guy they should target.

Ordonez would be a good option for the dh spot. he wont get crazy amount. i ve notice after the top tier free agents are gone the second tier free agents are alot cheaper.

I can see him getting Matsui, Abreau, Vladdy money who all were free agent proven vets last year. 2yr 14 mill with a 8 mill option is what i see him getting. All of them are proven vets and of that crop i would take Ordonez any day. At 7 million we are essentially just filling overbays contract. Anything more than 8 million is not worth it imo. He can be the regular DH.

I'd like to have him but he is an injury risk. His OBP is alright though. That's what we need most right now. Guys who can actually get on base.

pass. Old and injury prone right handed, not what we need. We should be looking to add a left handed bopper, or a lead off specialist to get on base for our current boppers.

Sounds like a plan, as long as your plan is to be paying a guy big bucks to sit on the DL.

I love Mags, but the guy has flat out lost bat speed this year. IMO he's declining.

And he gets to feast on chicken crap pitching in the central.

I saw him live maye 20 times this year and I believe he has lost it.

I'd take a chance on him as our every day DH... but that's about it IMO

For fun, google Ozzie Guillen's comments on MaggliHo. I can't post the words he used to describe him.

If he's a DH, then I would have him as a maybe.
