Easy first inning for Lewis

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:19 PM
Hughes looks good so far. He got unlucky on that first single.

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:19 PM
Wow Posada!

-Lavigne43-
10-16-2010, 04:20 PM
This is what the Rangers need to do against Posada

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:21 PM
Need a K here.

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:26 PM
This ump isn't very generous on this inside corner vs. righties.

-Lavigne43-
10-16-2010, 04:27 PM
Wow, can't believe Posada fell for that. He didn't even look at Andrus

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:28 PM
Cano should have tagged Hamilton. Just take the out on a play like that. He had no shot at Andrus.

nystandup
10-16-2010, 04:28 PM
Looked like they could have taqgged hamilton out at second before andrus would of scored also

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:29 PM
Whatever. Yanks like to let the other team score first to rack up those comeback wins.

J-Loco
10-16-2010, 04:31 PM
I love it when the umpires don't know the strike zone, Hughes struck out crack head Hamilton.

Rylinkus
10-16-2010, 04:36 PM
So I can't access the Yankee forum

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:36 PM
Me neither.

10-16-2010, 04:37 PM
OK, so at least it's not just me

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:37 PM
Swishelicious!!!

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:38 PM
Posada needs to make up for a terrible defensive half inning here.

Rylinkus
10-16-2010, 04:38 PM
If you leave things over the middle, he hits them. Last season he probably would have taken that pitch

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:38 PM
I think the Yankees are going to crush Lewis the 2nd and 3rd times through.

Rylinkus
10-16-2010, 04:38 PM
Jorge's got the count going for him

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:39 PM
Why does Posada have a green light?

J-Loco
10-16-2010, 04:39 PM
LMAO at the clowns chanting Yankees suck! ROFL try winning a championship before you say anyone sucks.

J-Loco
10-16-2010, 04:40 PM
Ha if Hughes would have thrown that it would have been ball 4.

Rylinkus
10-16-2010, 04:40 PM
Let's see what Lance can do

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:40 PM
LMAO at the clowns chanting Yankees suck! ROFL try winning a championship before you say anyone sucks.

Chill out. Are they not allowed to cheer for their team just because they have never won? That's dumb.

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:41 PM
I'd like a 3 run homer here.

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:41 PM
Run that count up so we get another shot at that bullpen.

MDfootball36
10-16-2010, 04:42 PM

Damn, that's a hell of a hit, but right at somone....

hugepatsfan
10-16-2010, 04:42 PM
Lewis is getting real lucky here. They're hitting a lot of line drives at people. I think they're going to CRUSH him the 2nd and 3rd time through.

J-Loco
10-16-2010, 04:44 PM
I just find it ironic that a team that has won nothing but 1 playoff series in the team's history has fans that say a team that has won 27 world championships sucks. It is just comical is all. Let them say what they want. God knows they need to grasp for something.

J-Loco
10-16-2010, 04:45 PM

10-16-2010, 04:48 PM
right down the middle

J-Loco
10-16-2010, 04:48 PM
Hughes got behind the count he is not sharp and nibbling too much. He needs to go at the hitters with off speed stuff instead of getting behind in the count and then laying meatballs over the plate.

J-Loco
10-16-2010, 04:50 PM
He is pitching around Molina lmao.

CHRISDODGERS

Why give away outs when Hughes is clearly struggling, the runner is already in scoring position, and they are already ahead. Only terrible hitters should sac bunt. Kinsler is not terrible

Ron Washington loves to play an NL style of offense. after a leadoff double you need a hit to bring him in. if you bunt of hit one to the other side you get him to third and instead of a hit a ground ball or fly ball gets the job done. they got a hit anyway so it didnt really matter but I still stand by that decision. it didnt kill the rally either cuz they got another run out of it too.

deserved success :)

Not quite.

I don't want to get too nerdy on you, and I also don't feel like looking up run expectancy charts and stuff, but here's the thing.

Like Lavigne said, good hitters should never be bunting (unless you're playing for a single run, which the Rangers were not at that point), especially if a pitcher is struggling, which Hughes clearly was. Kinsler is a good hitter. He very well could have gotten a hit to drive in Cruz. Even if he had struck out or popped up or otherwise made an out that wasn't "productive," Cruz would have scored easily from second on most hits, including the one that Murphy got.

The counterargument is that there was no way to know if Murphy would get a hit, so putting Cruz on third, where he could score on a deep fly ball, was a smart play. Except it wasn't, because there was also no guarantee that Murphy would manage to hit a sac fly. And if he had made a non-productive out, Cruz would be at third with two outs, and it would take - survey says - a hit to drive him in.

Bottom line: Giving up an out is almost always counterproductive, in all but the most extreme situations.

The Andrus bunt last night was acceptable, because Andrus isn't a very good hitter and the Rangers were merely looking to tie the game at that point. This was just stupid.

MDfootball36
10-16-2010, 05:40 PM

well personally, I do believe they were just going for one run. imo, if im playing for a big inning I swing away. but if the manager believes one run is what you should shoot for then I think it was a justified decision. agree to disagree I guess.

I have no idea why they'd be playing for one run in the middle of the game after what happened last night. Guess it makes sense though, considering Washington's boneheaded moves last night. Why would he stop now?

It's amazing how long this game has been going on. I fell asleep in the 3rd inning, woke up expecting the game to be over and it was in the 8th. ****ing Yankees.

And yes, that was a joke.

I'm well aware of Hamilton and Washington's drug use. As a rule of thumb, if you know something about baseball, chances are most other people do as well.

Must have been a wild night if you're in by 7:00. Ron Washington could party harder than that.

Christ, this game is dragging.

Time for the game I really care about. Congrats to the Rangers on their first ever home playoff win, assuming they don't blow it again.

You don't have tot tell me the Yankees have a lot of bandwagon fans. Even their cap is used as a fashion accessory. I still doubt bandwagon fans post on a baseball forum, especially PSD. Defeats the whole purpose of them being bandwagon fans since they are getting way to involved for a bandwagon fan. They might post on a more well known site like ESPN.

I guess the determination of wether someone is a true fan is how much they post on PSD. If I stop posting I should just throw away my Yankees gear and take up cricket. :eyebrow:

You know what my point is. If the Yankees won, there would be pages and pages of them gloating. Since the game ended today, there has been like 15 posts.

Actually I was just saying last night in the Yankees forum that the comments have been way down this year. Games 2 of the ALDS had less than 200 comments in the Yankees forum, I won't remind you who won that game. ALCS threads were getting 800+ posts per game last season now it can't crack 300 even after last nights comeback.

I also noticed the lack of these posters this season. Guess they got their fix last year. But you guys also lost one of you're best posters (RunGardner) and I'm sure other good posters have switched sites due the inactivity.

No, but it didn't help them. Things would look more foreboding for the Yankees if they were down 0-2.

Yeah it's too bad Texas didn't take Game 1. But then again maybe if the Rangers would have won Game 1 then the Yankees would come out and win Game 2. It's just all speculation.

What I do know though is that it would have been really nice for the Rangers to go into Yankee Stadium for a 3 game series and only have to win one of those games minimum. Now they MUST win 2 games there.

This series would surely end in 6 or 7 games...No team is gonna sweep the next 3..
