KANSAS CITY -- The deal that sent outfielder Jose Guillen to San Francisco was completed on Friday when the Giants sent pitcher Kevin Pucetas to the Royals.

Guillen was traded to the Giants on August 13 for a player to be named.

Pucetas, a 6-4, 225-pound right-hander, spent five years in the Giants' system and this year was 5-7 with a 5.69 ERA in 26 starts for Triple-A Fresno. In 120 Minor League games, all but four of them starts, he's gone 47-20 with a 3.73 ERA.

In 2007, Pucetas was 15-4 with a 1.87 ERA in 27 games for Augusta in the South Atlantic League and was named MiLB.com's Class A Starting Pitcher of the Year, as well as the Minor Leagues' "Most Spectacular Pitcher."

In 2008, he was named California League Pitcher of the Year when he went 10-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 23 starts. He was also in the 2008 All-Star Futures Game at Yankee Stadium. In 2009, he went to Fresno and was 10-6 with a 5.06 ERA.

From Spartanburg, S.C., Pucetas, 25, attended Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. He was the Giants' 17th-round pick in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

Pucetas was put on the Royals' 40-man roster.

His ERA last year is alarming. At least you got something back for Guillen, though.
