View Full Version : Bulls looking into Boozer's "Tripping in the dark" story

"Our goal is to put ourselves at the same level as the Lakers," he said. "I realize it's not going to happen overnight and it's not going to be easy, but we want to be facing the Celtics in the Finals. By the way, I mean that literally."

The Bulls are looking into whether Boozer really suffered the injury to his shooting hand - as he said he did - after tripping over a bag at his home as he went to answer the door on Oct 2.

"It was just dark, my doorbell rang and I tripped over a gym bag, tried to brace myself and it popped," Boozer said the next day, when it was announced that he needed surgery.

"I jumped back up, opened the door and my hand was still a little numb."

Immediately after Boozer provided an explanation, red flags went up around the NBA. After investing $80 million guaranteed in Boozer last summer, the Bulls want to make sure that he's telling the truth, remembering that he once famously reneged on an agreement to remain with the Cavs in 2004. From what we hear, that may have factored into the Bulls' decision to check out his story.

Whatever really happened, Boozer's run of bad luck continues. In six seasons in Utah, he missed almost 30% of the Jazz's games (138 of 492) due to injuries.

Good thing they are looking into this. He had to of do something more than "trip over a bag" to fracture his hand.

Well he tried to brace his fall and put his hand out when he was falling he could have tripped over a apple and it wouldn't have mattered what he tripped over

He probably is lying but it is possible to injure your hand like that.

If your hand isn't flat to the ground, you could do some damage.

To be honest, I sort of wondered if he was drunk and fell because of that. But his story is possible as well. So does he not have lighting in his home?

Well it was announced a few day after the "incident" that Boozer applied for a divorce. I dont think anyone believes his story.

The specific injury that he had 90% of the time is related to a person punching something(heard this on Chicago's local sports radio).

Probably got angry over that and punched a wall or something.

But people do all sorts of illogical things in the heat of the moment and then realize how incredibly stupid they were. Maybe this is the case. Perhaps he's a bit hot headed.

yes,the story's most likely made up,he's an idiot for doing whatever he did to hurt it(really),but we all are.

...and i have no idea why we're investigating it as any action to discipline him will hurt the success of team more than just letting it stay buried.

They don't call him boozer for no reason!...

Seriously though, let's be honest. The guy was probably ****ed up and lying about this doorbell story (I'm jumping to conclusions, but it's much more common/likely than a random late-doorbell-ring-freak-accident).

That said, it is what it is. He's on your team for the foreseeable future now Bulls fans; both the good and bad of it.

Even if he didn't tell the truth the Bulls will never be able to prove it unless Boozer somehow admits or does something stupid to give himself away.

all players should have the interior of their house lined with pillows, to prevent these types of things.

I have a feeling this investigation won't find anything, at least anything that will be revealed to the public. The Bulls are a very proud organization and I think Reinsdorf will just pay Boozer in the end so word doesn't get out. Besides, I'm sure Boozer didn't purposely break his hand. It was an accident and there's nothing that could be done to fix it. Might as well tell a white lie.

IF that is the case....

and how the hell are they going to investigate this story other than having a doctor confirm that the injury could have occurred from a fall?

everyone wants to play CSI these days...

It's not like his story is totally out there. Definitely believable.
Personally, I don't think it's legit, but doubt they can disprove it.

Anytime there is a story about a player to got hurt outside of NBA related activities, it's usually BS.

Just saying Bulls fan kept bashing the Knicks for Signing Amare For his lack of defense and his injury history. Then they talk about boozer as the better PF as if he's not in the same boat as Amare.

Boozer has a better game on either block than amare. Amare is just more athletic but Boozer has a better skillset. Even if you argue Amare as the better offensive player and discredit both on the defensive end, Boozer would still be better because Amare has yet to have a single year of 10+ RPG

edt: nvm. of course you would favor amare and claim he is leagues ahead of boozer. you're a knicks fan. is sad that people cant be unbiased

Super.

Amare is a more effective scorer, no doubt. But Boozer is a better passer and rebounder. Boozer is also a slightly better defender. But they are a wash in my book overall. Both very good PF's

Like I said... it must have been one brutal fall....

The story never really convinced me at all. You see.. I always heard all of these unpleasant stories about Boozer and his antics but I was willing to give him a chance and take him at face value. Believe that he truly wanted to be here, wanted to give it his all to get us a title, that he thought we were ready.. etc etc. I truly hope this doesn't turn out to be one of those unpleasant stories I used to hear about this guy.
