Former Laker Rick Fox -- he's not only a ballroom dancer anymore
October 7, 2010 | 12:46 pm

Rick_240 Rick Fox, former Laker star and current favorite on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," will be joining NBA TV, in conjunction with TNT, throughout the season as a guest analyst.

Fox lately has been earning praise from the judges on "Dancing," despite 5-foot-4 partner Cheryl Burke's need for custom-designed 4-inch heels so she can -- kind of -- reach the shoulders of the 6-foot-7 Fox (tallest contestant ever on this season's highest-rated weekly television show).

His first appearance on NBA TV will be Sunday, when he will appear with Brent Barry at 5:30 p.m. PDT. We assume Barry will not have to procure custom-designed clothing items as there is no need for Barry to reach Fox's shoulders. Fox will not be working for the Fox local Lakers broadcasts this year as he has in the past.

He did pretty well on the FSN show. He was brutally honest at times and called out Kobe/Derek for not cracking the proverbial whip when need be.

His true asset though comes when he analyzes defensive sequences

He stopped by on Fan Night I remember as well as doing the Lakers playoff run, but he was just a guest.

They need to bring Fred Carter and Gail Goodrich back because they used to do a hell of a job on those Saturday games

Who isn't an NBATV analyst nowadays? NBATV is the whorehouse of ex-average players.

Would you rather have current average players like Kyle Korver breakin down tape?

Yaknow we could make fun of Rick Fox for dancing or being in crappy Tyler Perry movies...and we should...but it is cool to see a smart, multi-faceted basketball player being able to do so many things beyond the basketball court. He is not a "dumb jock". And most of the NBA TV guys are really boring. I'm enjoying guys like Webber and McHale and now Rick Fox offsetting the Eric Snows and Steve Smiths they have usually had.

How dare you, sir? Kyle Korver is a shining beacon of excellence. He's the real reason they passed on Lebron. The Heat were Lebron's second option. Kyle Korver was the Bull's first.

I know you truly mean that. ;)

One day all of you will ask for forgiveness when he comes for us...
