With the current delay of the Melo trade scenario, and now that it's officially October and the regular season is right around the corner, I think it's appropriate to talk about the off-season as a whole and get everyone's thoughts and conclusions on whether or not it was everything that it was hyped up to be. Right now I'm just wondering whether you think that this was the best off-season ever and if it was worth all of the hype; or if you think this off-season was overrated and overhyped. Here's a brief list of the key signings/trades:

Wade re-signed to Heat
Lebron to Heat
Bosh to Heat
Boozer to Bulls
Amar'e to Knicks
Lee traded to Warriors
J.Johnson re-signed to Hawks to a massive max contract (6 years 126 mil i believe?)
Rudy gay re-signed to Grizzlies
Dirk re-signed to Mavs
Pierce & Allen re-signed to Boston
Shaq to Boston

I think that it was worth all of the hype. Although my team came out big losers, the league still got a lot of attention...more than any other off-season, due to "The Decision", and there were many interesting acquisitions and signings that will be interesting to watch for this upcoming season.

That being said, what do you guys think of the off-season? Was the excitement worth all of the hype, with spectacles like "The Decision"? Or was it overrated and overhyped?

for all the hype, it disappointed. Sure, LeBron and Bosh left, big surprise. But many of the hot FA's just signed contracts that will end up crippling their teams. Nothing new there

Stoudemire, Boozer, LeBron, and Bosh all changed teams, yeah it lived up to the hype.

It was pretty interesting. The wack part about it was that average to borderline all-stars getting paid ALOT.

u mean like Johnson and Gay?

that is two of them, yep. There are more, but I don't feel the desire to start the bickering when I list them

I thought it was pretty solid even though a lot of players stayed at home.

that was the one thing that disappointed me. i was hoping for players like Dirk and Joe Johnson to go elsewhere. that would've put this off-season over the top

Is a 4 time all-star that mainly helped a team back out of the bottom of the NBA a borderline all-star? Curious. Also should the Hawks just fall back by letting our top player go to amuse posters of a forum? They couldn't do anything else but sign or let go Joe. I doubt Lebron was coming.

I can say I personally wasn't hyped about this offseason, but it was as eventful as promised. Guys who many thought would move like Lebron, Amare and Boozer moved while we got a few smaller surprises too like Hedo inaugurating a new era in Phoenix, Lee becoming Curry's Batman to his Robin, Beasley being handed over for basically nothing, and Larry Bird actually drafting on talent vs. character (which has already had mixed results).
