Nuggets get Gallinari, AK47, Wilson Chandler, 2011 2nd rounder, future 1st, max cash allowed ($3.5)
NY gets Melo and JR Smith
Jazz get Eddy Curry and Turiaf

Why for Denver: Melo and JR are just gone after the season if they don't get something for them. Denver doesn't want the cancer Smith anyway. Gallinari is a great prospect (better than Favors), Chandler is a solid player and AK was a Denver target. The draft pick is not as soon as the one from NJ, but it's still an unprotected 1st. In this deal, Denver actually makes money whereas that NJ deal would have cost them millions.

Why for NY: they lose Gallinari and have to take JR Smith, but they get their guy in Melo.

Why for Utah: this saves Utah $5+ mil if you include salary and luxury. Turiaf is the type of big man Utah needs.

Why would the Jazz take, Curry, and Turiaf,

To save money and get a much needed big man. You have to realize, Utah traded Maynor and Brewer just to save money last year. Utah likes AK (SF/PF), but they love CJ Miles (SF), just drafted Heyward (SF), love Millsap (PF) and just traded for Jefferson (PF/C). AK is expendable.

Jazz give up a talented expiring contract for less expiring money and less talented players. Of course!
