I just wanted everyone's opinion on draft day steals as far as teams finding a future All-Star late in the first round or in the second round. So here are some guys that I came up with so far.

Michael Redd - Milwaukee Bucks 43rd pick - 2nd round 2001(2-time NBA All-Star, one of the best scorers in the game when healthy, Olympic Gold Medalist).

Rashard Lewis - Seattle Supersonics - 32nd pick 2nd round 1998(2-time NBA All-Star)

Jameer Nelson - Denver Nuggets - 20th pick - Late 1st round 2004(1-time NBA All- Star)

Kobe Bryant - Charlotte Hornets - 13th pick - Mid 1st round 1996(12-time NBA All-Star, Former Slam Dunk Champion, 5-time NBA Champion, Olympic Gold Medalist, Reg season MVP, Finals MVP, on his way of becoming one of the greats of all time.)

Tony Parker - San Antonio Spurs - 28th pick - Late 1st round 2002( 2-time NBA All-Star, Finals MVP, 3-time NBA Champion, one of the top PG's in the league when healthy).

Emannuel Ginobili - San Antonio Spurs - 57th pick - Late 2nd round(2-time NBA All-Star, Olympic Medalist, 3-time NBA Champion, one of the top 2-guards in the league)

Steve Nash - Phoenix Suns - 15th pick - Mid 1st round 1996(6-time NBA All-Star, 2-time Reg MVP , one of the premier PG's in the league despite his age).

Dirk Nowitzki - Milwaukee Bucks - 9th pick - 1st round 1998(10-time NBA All-Star, Reg MVP, the best shooting big man the league has ever seen, and is a matchup nightmare for anybody).

Michael Jordan - Chicago Bulls - 3rd pick - 1st round 1984(Portland went with Sam Bowie and the rest was history. As far as credentials there is no need for them for the greatest of all time).

John Stockton - Utah Jazz - 14th pick - 1st round 1984(9-time NBA All-Star, one of the most fearless and intelligent guards that ever played despite not being athletic, Olympic Gold Medalist, part of the 1992 Dream team, teamed up with Karl Malone to form the most devastating two man game ever the pick and roll, all-time leader in assists).

Hopefully you guys can come up with more because these are just off the top of my head and I know that there are more guys.

I feel like calling top 10 picks a steal is going too far. They're supposed to be great if they're in that group. Granted, many aren't, but you can't say its unexpected.

The most recent one that I can think of is DeJuan Blair... I think that he will have continued success in the NBA... also you cannot forget about Paul Milsap

You could argue KG at 5, compared to Joe Smith who was taken first that year, but I agree, top 10 picks should not be counted as steals, unless it's Jordan.

It's pretty widely known that Kobe would have been a top 5 pick had he been willing to play anywhere but LA. The fact that he told teams he wouldn't play for anyone but the Lakers had him drop until Charlotte, who was able to work a deal with LA.

Ginobilli was the biggest steal ever. I am gonna say a steal was the Heat drafting Wade at number 5. The Heat wanted to get Bosh because they already had an all star SG in Eddie Jones, but the Raptors got him at 4. Its also safe to say that Wade is better than Melo, Bosh, and yes even Darko LOL.

i don't get it.

Rautins hasn't even played an NBA game yet, therefore you can't call him a steal because you have absolutely no idea what kind of career he will have. This isn't a thread for projecting someone to steal its for players who ARE steals.

Not to mention Rautins isn't even that good.
