So we got 10 now, last year we had 16, which I think most people felt was a little much?

And as far as keepers, are we saying you can only have a player on your roster for 2 seasons, or keeper him twice? As in, I held Dirk and Josh Smith as keepers last year, but I traded for them both the year before. So I've had them for 2 years, but I've only keeper'ed them once.

Actually, looking back over the rules, you're right- You can only keep a guy as a keeper twice.

So: if you had a player in 2008, kept him until 2009, had him on your team in 2009, and then kept him until 2010, he is offlimits as a keeper this year.

I think the draft order is usually reverse standings from last year among returning users and then newcomers pick last after that.

DRAFT RULES

1. All current owners are allowed to keep no more than two players on their current roster. It's their choice on whether they want to keep two, one or no players!

2. For every player an owner keeps, they lose a draft pick. If an owner keeps one player they lose their 1st round pick. It the owner keeps two players they lose their 1st and 2nd round picks!

3. All new owners begin the draft in the first round just like any ordinary league. Only the keeper picks will be off limits!

4. The deadline for keeper selection is 3 days (72 hours) before the draft!

5. Post keeper picks in HERE. You may use a 'keeper tag' on a player no more than two consecutive times!

Just realized that I drafted Amare in 09/10, kept him for 10/11, so I can keep him again this year if I choose. I think I'll go with Amare/Wall, I'll confirm at the 'deadline' whenever one is set.

Are we allowed to trade players for draft picks? I'm not sure how that would work, but I've got Bosh and Wallace as well who may be interesting as keepers for some guys.

I'm fine with 16 again (seemed to work out alright for me last year :shrug:), but there's always the problem of them being active. Ramon Nivar wasn't active last year so he's out. I think Ragun stopped setting his rosters too. Forget who else, but new managers should be approved by the people that have been in this league for a while.

I am just asking cuz we have 11 teams now. the draft is coming up in 3 days and not sure if everything will be sorted out by then. We need to know this info, so we plan who we can use as keepers and other stuff.

Yeah, agreed. I would advocate pushing it back towards something like the 22nd or thereabouts. There is still a lot to do to get this fantasy league in order, and lots of moving parts in the NBA still.

my opinion is that pick 3 of them and go with 14 teams. i felt 16 teams was a bit too much, as did some other members. so i would say go with 3 of the most active posters.

Also if do decide to go with 14 teams, is it possible to change the playoff structure? I would say make it a 6 team playoff, rather than a 8 team playoff and give the top 2 teams a bye in week 1 of playoffs.

i am going to be picking 11-15 (depending on the # of teams) in the 1st round and 13-17 in the second round. Trying to think if its worth keeping Manu or Al Jefferson.

Guys you cant propose a ****ing change to the draft with 3 days notice or whatever it was. And same with the keepers. There was like a one day notice with keepers and that was changed days after I suggested Sunday as the keeper date.

There is no perfect time, but Tuesday at 7 excludes the least people so far. 6 out of 8 people are available then.

PRESEASON POWER RANKINGS

1. Dol-Fan - Defending champ gets the obligatory first spot in the first power rankings. Had a solid draft and will have nice veteran leadership from Dirk and Randolph, but otherwise is going young. Roster has a lot of potential with several high-risk/high-reward picks. Leads the way with 4 rookies on his squad.

2. JermanJaysFan - Perhaps the favourite this year, with incumbent stars Love and Durant leading the way for a solid draft class. Will be trying to avenge a late-season collapse. Count on him to be the league leader in points and 3pt.

3. Swoop - Finished 3rd in the standings last year, but a late-season collapse derailed hopes of a championship. Drafted a nice squad this year with some late upside picks in Kenneth Faried and Enes Kanter and bounce-back candidates Mike Dunleavy and Baron Davis.

4. Gibby - Lost in the finals last year and looking to avenge that defeat. If Steph Curry can stay healthy this season, he'll have a formidable squad. While his squad is well rounded, he may have to add some more scoring in order to stick with the big dogs this year.

5. greg_ory_2005 - Dark horse to begin the year starts with Dwight Howard and some surprisingly solid autodraft picks. Autodrafters often have trouble, but with Eric Gordon and John Wall both primed for breakouts, a sexy threesome could be building in greg-ville.

6. Macedonian - Lacks the name recognition, and perhaps even the talent, but Mace always finds himself near the top of the league and if his roster is underperforming, this ruthless manager will not be scared to shake things up.

7. The Wise 1 - Lineup has a lot of potential, Westbrook and Aldridge will be a nice pairing and Bargnani and Cousins could add some flavour to a well-rounded roster. Bought high on Nick Young and Wes Matthews after their fantastic years last year, could pay off, but some other risky picks along with this one result in a conservative ranking.

8. Saddler the Gr8 - New manager gets an optimistic ranking here. Will he have what it takes to cut it in this league? That remains to be seen - but his roster suggests a keen eye for talent, as Kobe, Amare, Joe Johnson, Iggy, and Boozer could all have big years. Capitalized on the low stock of some high potential players.

9. Mile High Champ - Has a revitalized Chris Paul, who now has the most skilled big man partner he's ever had, as well as some nice complimentary pieces in Wallace, Millsap, Bogut, and Lawson. If Paul George's growth spurt pays off as we all know it will, this could be a team on the rise.

10. jsumadchat - Perhaps the most athletic team in the league this year, should win shot-blocking on a regular basis with McGee, Jordan, and Josh Smith. Point guard play should carry him a long way, and if he can round out his roster with a scoring big or wing, this team could make some noise.

11. conway429 - The bad luck continues as Brook Lopez goes down with a foot injury. This year, however, he's got a decent supporting cast with Dwyane Wade leading the way. James Harden, David Lee, and Darren Collison should keep him alive while Lopez recovers.

12. eaglesbaby - Another autodrafter without quite the success that Saddler had. Monta Ellis and Carmelo Anthony lead this club, and Bosh and Pierce should be solid complimentary pieces, however the rest of his roster lacks depth and he may not have put enough thought into deep pre-draft rankings.

13. SA5195 - Reached on Derrick Rose, but will try to follow up a disappointing debut season with a better performance. Tyreke, DeMar, and David West are all high potential. Lack of upside on his bench may hurt this squad.

14. Bob at York - LeBron can only do so much. Likely would have been better off keeping Wade and Horford, this risk-taking manager decided to start fresh after a disappointing season. Although he won the league title several years ago, he doesn't have the flair for fantasy he once did. Bought high on Dorell Wright and Serge Ibaka, will have to hope those reaches pay off.

I think 4th spot is very generous for me. The auto draft didnt hurt me that bad. The middle round picks are questionable. I dont care about the late round picks because a lot of those players do end up getting dropped.

I will definitely struggle in scoring but i wont worry too much about that and play to my strengths. I will be strong on FG%, FT%, 3PTM, ST. I certainly did not have the 2nd best team last year but i managed my lineups well. Got to do the same and be active on the waiver wire. As we learned last year, once you get in the playoffs, anything can happen. So aiming for one of the top 6 spots.

BTW Dol-fan great job on the power rankings!

14. Bob at York - LeBron can only do so much. Likely would have been better off keeping Wade and Horford, this risk-taking manager decided to start fresh after a disappointing season. Although he won the league title several years ago, he doesn't have the flair for fantasy he once did. Bought high on Dorell Wright and Serge Ibaka, will have to hope those reaches pay off.

I think 4th spot is very generous for me. The auto draft didnt hurt me that bad. The middle round picks are questionable. I dont care about the late round picks because a lot of those players do end up getting dropped.

I will definitely struggle in scoring but i wont worry too much about that and play to my strengths. I will be strong on FG%, FT%, 3PTM, ST. I certainly did not have the 2nd best team last year but i managed my lineups well. Got to do the same and be active on the waiver wire. As we learned last year, once you get in the playoffs, anything can happen. So aiming for one of the top 6 spots.

BTW Dol-fan great job on the power rankings!

it's point based though, so I just tried to maximize my points. 3s are worth more than assists so I went with a lot of combo guards. I think Billups, Terry, Harden, Lawson, Lowry, and Douglas will get me tons of points. I would like a true C though. Ibaka + a combo guard could get something done. Really like the shot-blocking that Ibaka brings though. Few more minutes and he's gonna be at 3+ BPG.

Their both key cogs though, Bass is like big baby of the bench last year and has improved his jumper and will go to work on the boards. I don't need 15/5 from him but I can very much see him getting like 8-12 and 5-6 boards.

Anderson also I believe is starting and when you start at PF next to Howard thats asking for bare jumpers and 3 pointers:D. I'm happy the auto draft recognized some sleepers but I still would love to make trades.

From the trade talks we have had, I can tell he doesn't believe in Marvin and doesn't value him much. One of the original offers involved Blair coming my way too... looking at how he has exploded, I am starting to think I shouldn't have countered that deal. I don't think the trade is that bad, Nash's stats are no longer going to be elite. Suns will suck and by mid-February, Nash will be traded to a team like the Lakers, Hawks, Thunder or something and he won't be as big a scorer as he has been in the past. I just need him because I am weak at PG and need assists.

Last year, Nash had 1.0 threes per game, and Wright had 2,4 threes per game...
Yeah, Nash is a real star and he always has been one of my favourites players... But he is getting older and his numbers will decrease... No doubt... Wright's time is coming... Last year was his 1st season as a starter and his stats were amazing... 16.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.0 ast, 1.5 stl... I think he will score little bit less this season, but he will be better in all other categories...

WEEK 2 POWER RANKINGS

1. Dol-fan - A bit of a slow start, but the defending champ still managed a solid victory. The rookie rage has continued with the additions of Norris Cole, Marshon Brooks, and Markieff Morris. He'll have to hope that the injection of youth does not result in immature play and that a complete lack of shot-blocking does not prove problematic.

2. Gibby - Out to a blazing start with an impressive shutout, although he may not have had the highest stat totals across the board, last year's runner-up shut out a competitive opponent. The league should be on watch for Stephen Curry's breakout.

3. Swoop - Ground out a victory against a tough opponent. Should maintain a consistent spot in the top 5 of these rankings. The only trouble here moving forward may be scoring, but proficiency in other categories should outweigh this issue.

4. JermanJaysFan - As always, this squad hits threes and scores the ball, shooting solid percentages, and grabbing assists and steals. High turnovers and the lack of a true point guard are the only dark spots. This squad, barring injury, will be a mainstay in the top 5.

5. Saddler the Gr8 - Very impressive debut in the RFL (Raptors Forum League ;)) Although his opponent has been less than impressive in recent years, this squad's totals for Week 1 warranted a massive jump in the rankings. Question marks exist here - can Jose Calderon keep it up? How will Kobe Bryant hold up over the compressed season? Is Ben Gordon back? Is Amare healthy? - but this team has the talent to make some noise.

6. The Wise 1 - Another solid performance in Week 1 of the RFL, but an injury to Manu Ginobili marked an unfortunate start to Week 2. Russell Westbrook should pick up some slack when he gets on track, LaMarcus Aldridge has been as good as expected, and Andrea Bargnani has been a pleasant surprise in terms of efficiency. Can this team hold up without Manu's veteran leadership?

7. eaglesbaby - This year's crop of rookie managers appears to be impressive, with both men finishing Week 1 in the upper half of the power rankings. This squad has solid veteran leadership with Kidd, Pierce, and Anthony to go along with young up-and-comers like Jerebko, Bass, and Anderson. Can this success be sustained?

8. greg_ory_2005 - Quality opening week that could have been better had Eric Gordon not been injured. Unfortunately, Gordon's health is a constant question mark and the health of a top pick is crucial to success in this league.

9. Mile High Champ - Paul George is still 6'10. If he grows to 6'11, watch out.

13. Macedonian - Getting shut out Week 1 hurts your ranking, poor trading hurts it even more. His aggressive style has got the best of this squad thus far, as a few poorly thought out trades have resulted in a slight depletion of talent.

14. SA5195 - Made a few reaches in the draft that have yet to pay off. He will struggle to climb the rankings without a few sneaky waiver wire pickups or trades.

WEEK 3 POWER RANKINGS

1. The Wise 1 - His whining made me reluctant to do this, but it's hard to argue with the stats. This experienced manager put up some high point totals this week to knock off a game opponent. Losing Ginobili may hurt him soon, so this placement could be short-lived.

2. eaglesbaby - Great showing by the newcomer thus far. A solid roster should continue to produce, and some late round steals have propelled this team from solid to contender. Will he continue to prove the doubters wrong?

3. greg_ory_2005 - Always a contender in this league but has never been able to push through to the top. He again is fielding a solid team and may be ready to take the leap after an impressive win over an outstanding rookie manager. Well-rounded team that's been aided by some late-round steals. If John Wall starts to produce and Eric Gordon can get healthy, watch out.

4. Saddler the Gr8 - Another generous ranking for a rookie, but he's put up some gaudy totals thus far. This team has been propelled by some surprising early season performances by a few familiar Raptors, Jose Calderon and Amir Johnson. A pair of Lakers are likely the biggest contributors for this squad, how will Kobe hold up over the compressed season?

5. Dol-Fan - Tough loss this week at the last minute, and this team, already weak in the shot-blocking department, will have trouble rebounding without Zach Randolph. If Kyle Lowry comes back shortly, this team may stay afloat, but things are looking rough for the defending champ, and this drop may be the beginning of a free fall.

6. Gibby - Last year's runner-up also took a tough last minute loss, losing several categories by only a point. This squad put up some fairly weak point totals, however, and against a tougher squad may have taken a more decisive loss. His standing in the power rankings is based on a strong week 1 showing, but he'll have to regain some momentum to climb back up. This team is only as strong as Stephen Curry's ankles.

7. JermanJaysFan - As always, this manager has fielded a strong team, especially in the scoring, 3pt shooting, and rebounding departments. However - Luke Ridnour and Toney Douglas may be losing playing time to a few impressive rookies, and his assists have taken a hit. Certainly not as strong as last year, but Love and Durant will still carry this team far.

8. Bob_at_York - After a 3-year hiatus from any semblance of a competitive atmosphere, this veteran manager seems to have rekindled his team's spirits. LeBron James helps, and Jarrett Jack and Tristan Thompson have provided some unexpected energy. If he can keep his team motivated, this squad could continue to surge up the rankings.

10. Macedonian - Gets a boost after narrowly edging the defending champs, but an 0-9 start means a modest ranking. Has a fairly easy opponent this week that could keep moving the spirits of this club forward.

11. jsumadchat - Will have no problem blocking shots, putting up steals, assists, and rebounds. If this squad can harness its talent, we could see a quick move up the standings, especially if he can knock off the #1 team in the power rankings this week.

12. SA5195 - Not the greatest week judging by stat totals, but nonetheless pulled off the win against last year's runner up. Will need a few more victories to make me a believer, though.

13. conway429 - This squad seems to be a perpetual basement-dweller. Dwyane Wade and Brook Lopez being absent certainly does not help.

Lowry's been a top fantasy option and should continue to put up the stats. I'd be willing to deal him but McGee doesn't have as much value to me as he does to you. I'm still not winning blocks often even with McGee.

Rankings aren't that bad...
David Lee's definitely worth more than being 108th. And I donno if Lowry's gonna keep putting up 7 rebounds and 10 assists per game.
Giving up 2 C's hurts a bit too...
