Dude has 3.2 million people following him. He's auctioning off a retweet online. How much is it worth?

Twitter term for copying what someone else says and sending it out to all your followers. Basically an acknowledgment that someone said something funny or important or informative.

Oh, well in that case i would not pay anything at all, but I could see some twitter fanatics paying a good amount, maybe.

The better question is what someone would have to pay me to start using twitter.

It's not that there's no love for Shaq... it's the fact that it's a damn retweet.

I would pay if I was trying to advertise something, or maybe asking people to donate to Red Cross or something.

But just a simple reTweet? Twitter is free.

A lot of people pass off Twitter as something stupid, but that's if you don't know how to use it correctly. It's the way writers, news stations, etc get out their news and info quickly. It's often the first source I have with things: earthquakes, celebrity death, and other stuff. It's on Twitter before it's published on the news sites or on the 10 o'clock news. It's also nice to know people's true feelings on a movie before I choose to see it or not.

I laugh when someone thinks Twitter is only about knowing when Miley Cyrus ate cereal. You choose who you follow. It's a powerful tool. But I think it's funny how Shaq would sell a reTweet when the whole service he's using it on is free.

Wells thats what is, kinda. Its not Red Cross but all the money earned goes to helping build homes in Haiti.

Its just not Shaq who's doing it, its an assortment of Celebs: http://twitchange.com/celebrity_list.html

If you won the auction would you be allowed to put something along the lines of "shaq loves huge balls in his mouth"?

Come on, guys.

For an upstart business, musician, or anything where success depends on promotion,

he is basically auctioning advertising to 3.2 million people. do you have any idea what that would cost in any other medium?
