SEMIFINALS

-------------------------------------------------------------
From now on, each poll will have a voting time of 5 days. This applies to each matchup until an NBA Champion has been determined.

Winner: LA Lakers, 4-1 (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=534152)

Portland vs. Utah
Winner: Portland, 4-2 (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533735)

Oklahoma City vs Denver
Winner: Oklahoma City, 4-2 (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533743)

Dallas vs San Antonio
Winner: Dallas, 4-3 (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/forums/showthread.php?t=534150)

The total of votes for each team will be counted (all 4 options together) and the team with the higher total wins. Eventually, the result will be the option with the most votes (out of 4 options) of the team that has the most votes altogether.

Example:

If the option which has been voted most out of all 8 in the poll is "Memphis in 6" (20 votes), it doesn't necessarily mean that Memphis has won. If Memphis has 50 votes (Memphis in 4, 5, 6 & 7 altogether), but New Orleans has 55 votes (New Orleans in 4, 5, 6 & 7 altogether), New Orleans is the winner, although it didn't have the most votes in any of its 4 single options. The option with the most votes of the winner (New Orleans) is the final result.

Let's say:
Memphis in 4 = 10 votes
Memphis in 5 = 5 votes
Memphis in 6 = 20 votes
Memphis in 7 = 15 votes
Total = 50 votes

Now lets say New Orleans has
New Orleans in 4 = 12
New Orleans in 5 = 13
New Orleans in 6 = 17
New Orleans in 7 = 13
Total = 55 votes
The winner would be New Orleans in 6 since they would have the most votes total overall and thus the option for them that was voted the most is New Orleans in 6 would become the final result.

Portland in 6. I just feel they will be very strong next season. And it will be very hard for Lakers to win them, especially if Oden stays healthy.

What it gotta do with this thread? I gave my opinion. "not wanting to meet Pau Gasol and the lakers in a possible finals match..,huh, lebron?" sounds better. I think Portland might give much more problems for the heat than Lakers. In my opinion hardest matchup for Heat is Boston, then Portland and then only Lakers. LeBron and his average support defeated Lakers 2 times last season and Wade with his sucking support won 1 game and lost 2nd with 1 point margin. Why should I think it will be hard for them to beat Lakers? Besides Heat will prolly have home court advantage.

If Portland can just stay healthy, I can see this being a 7 game series. Leaning, slightly towards the Lakers but I can see Portland winning also.

Portland almost always wins against us at Portland, so I gotta say Lakers in 7.

If the Blazers are fully healthy, they have the length inside to trouble the Lakers... I went with the underdogs, Blazers in a tight game 7.

I got Lakers in 7, but Portland could win this series if they are healthy. If Portland is healthy IMO they and the Spurs are the only team that will be able to beat the Lakers in the West.

I wish I could say Portland, but LA in 7.

I don't even see Portland making it that far. Every year people vote for Portland at a high seed and deep in the playoffs and never happens.

Blazers could pull an upset if fully healthy but that's a huge if. Gotta pick the LA here, Lakers in 7.

***IF*** Blazers are healthy, I can see them truly testing Lakers hunger and extending it to 7 games. If there not healthy, I could see game 6 still, just like the injured Rockets did against LA couple years ago.

Lakers in 5, Come on guys really?

Artest can stop Roy, Kobe can guard anyone.

Bynum is better then Oden

Gasol is better then any of their bigmen by far.

Odom = They can't guard him.

Add the defense they have on the bench = Lakers in 5

When did Artest started playing on shooting guard position? You need to read some books.
Andre Miller vs Derek Fisher. Miller has an edge
Brandon Roy vs Kobe Bryant. Kobe has an edge.
Ron Artest vs Nicolas Batum. I would call it draw. Artest gettin old and Batum is a very effective player with very good FG% and 3P%
Lamarcus Aldridge vs Pau Gasol. Gasol has an edge.
Greg Oden vs Andrew Bynum. Oden has an edge, ofcourse if they both stay healthy.
On bench basically we have Marcus Camby and Lamar Odom, who are both great bench players.
By player quality I would say its draw.

And I gotta say most of the things depend on Phil Jackson.

Lakers only have trouble with teams that are good defensively. Portland is somewhere in the middle of the pack in terms of DEF efficiency.

If the Lakers can score on you then there's no way you'd beat them.

portland is an ok team they could be very good if oden could learn how to stand on his own 2 feet and knees haha but the lakers are unbeatable in the west until it comes to the finals !!!!

If Oden is healthy I actually think they stand a more legit chance than anyone in the west at beating LA.
:sigh: alas, Oden is never healthy and will not be healthy. Therefore, sadly, I have to pick the Lakers here in 6.

It's tough for me. In one respect I want to see LA in the Finals because I want LeBron and Wade to tear Kobe apart and beat them in 5. Nothing could make me happier. However, at the same time, maybe I'd be happier just to see Kobe humbled and knocked out before the Finals so he has ZERO chance of winning another title.

It would truly be glorious.

Portland has been building a system very similiar to the Spurs of the early 2000s. LA is a "outside in" power forward which perfectly suited for a inside presence. Oden is that player. If he does not stay healthy I see Portland making a move in the season another center. If one of Portland's shooters (Fernandez, Batum) can emerge as consistent option, portland will be deadly. Now that is a lot of ifs but dont sell them short for an 8th seed (OKC)

Lakers win in 5.

Kobe averages 35.1 points a game in this series.
