Tulo
Hanley
Rollins (still, he just has value to that team that isnt measured in stats)
Jeter (same idea as Rollins)
Reyes

...does anyone else even belong in this conversation? IMO, the next tier is:

Bartlett
Furcal
Yunel Escobar
Andrus

..and then the rest

Reyes is easily the third best in baseball.

Funny how only two of the SS listed are top 5 in WAR for shortstops this season.

And only three of the SS listed were top 5 in WAR for shortstops last season.

And only three of the SS listed were top 5 in WAR for shortstops in 2008.

Stephen Drew, JJ Hardy, and Alexei Ramirez are probably 6, 7, 8, but not very far from Jeter, Reyes, and Rollins at this point. Tulowitzki is the best SS imo with Hanley Ramirez still a very safe 2nd.

Funny how these 5 are all in the top 6 in WAR the past three seasons combined.

Yeah, besides Tulo and Hanly there has been little consistency at the position from year to year. No other SS have really stepped up every year to be worthy of replacing anyone in the top 5. As proven by despite the fact that Jeter, Rollins, and Reyes haven't been great every year of the past 3 years, but still overall were better than anyone else.

Besides injury Reyes has been solid as heck.
