Long-time NBA reporter David Aldridge of NBA.com reports that guard Rudy Fernandez of Portland turned down an opportunity to reunite with former Blazers assistant Monty Williams in New Orleans, turning down a potential trade to the Hornets.

Fernandez has reportedly been attempting to work a trade out of Portland throughout the offseason and indications are Blazers GM Rich Cho wants to accommodate the request. But the Hornets apparently do not fit the bill. http://www.neworleans.com/sports/hornets/478326-report-blazers-guard-fernandez-rejected-trade-to-new-orleans.html

He doesn't want to play with the best PG in basketball in Chris Paul, and a team with a solid Center, great PF in West, new wingman Ariza and himself at the SG spot would have been sick and a good fit IMO

People refused to listen to me when I said Rudy Fernandez was a bad egg and he's not the type of player you want on your team. :pity:

Now please stop making threads about this scrub.

please stop posting in threads you don't like - problem solved.

rudy is no one special. he can play anywhere he wants and it doesn't matter. it's not going to change the face of the nba, or even a franchise. if he wants to leave the nba, then goodbye, rudy.

lol...speaks to the quality of player coming out of the European leagues. This is what worries me about Rubio. When the dude comes over here and is average at best, he'll go crying back to europe and leave his team high and dry after wasting a draft pick. Damn shame.

I wouldn't want to play in New Orleans either.

Why do we even know who this guy is? He's all potential and built up by some hype machine. I'm so tired of clowns like Darius Miles, Rudy Fernandez, Kwame Brown, Adam Morrison, and others taking up time by the media when time should be spent on guys who are actually good. Take the time spent on these losers and talk about good being done by players in the community.

cp3 is under contract for two more years... as is Fernandez. He could play with CP3 for a while and then leave if Paul does once he is a FA...

Thornton >>>> Fernandez

Marcus Thornton did everything Rudy Fernandez did as a rookie, but did it even better and at a younger age

I agree with everyone else that says who cares. This guy has done nothing and doesn't deserve the attention he gets. He certainly isn't good enough to be able to control if/where he's traded. He hasn't earned that right.

I second this. I really like Thornton and absolutely wouldn't start Fernandez over him. Fernandez doesn't deserve to be anymore than the 9th or 10th man at best.

- a top 3-5 PG (Rose)
- a top 5-7 C (Noah)
- a top 5-7 PF (Boozer)
- a top 8 SF (Deng)

...in one of the greatest cities in the country?

...on a roster that conveniently needs 3pt shooting from their 2?

Yeah.

Yeah.

That's the thing though, he's not a good shooter. He shot 37.8% from the field last year and 36.8% from three. He ranked #70 in three point percentage last year. In his career he's barely above 40% field goal percentage. He's not a good shooter.

I never knew he had a no trade clause.
I'm pretty surprised he'd turn down a chance to play with Paul, West, and Ariza.
Not sure if he'd start there but he'd get time and that team would be much improved.

well, Rudy has had an eventful summer, at least in the media. If this is true, and he doesn't want to play with a player who will give him the easiest opportunity to succeed, than he can go back to Europe.
I am awaiting Crooner's countless posts in this thread....

Didnt Rudy prove in the playoffs and regular season when Roy was out he wasnt a starter? All i ever heard from Rudy supporters is that he needed the chance to start and he would show he was a starter. And when Roy was out he did nothing.

Didnt he loose his his starting spot when Roy was out?

I'd take the first flight to New Orleans for a chance to play with Chris Paul.

It would be the perfect opportunity to revive of what's left of his career, playing alongside the best PG in the game who's made other players better.

How did he turn down the trade? He's still on his rookie contract, he really doesn’t have a say in where he's traded. He must have told the Hornets he'll never suit up for them.

What is “rumored” to have happened is..

There was a trade idea between the Blazers and NOs.. The NO’s GM calls Rudys agent asking if he would be happy playing in NOs. Rudy says no. So NOs backs out of the trade. NOs coach Monty Williams was an assistant coach for the Blazers since 2005, and knows Rudy very well.

It is also “rumored” the trade involved Darren Collison for Rudy and a draft pick. Which would have helped both teams needs.

BTW.. Rudy is now reformed. He is now talking like he wants to be a Blazer again..

Just like everybody else im ready to hear Crooner. I wonder what excuse he's going to make for Rudy now that we find out he has a trade clause and he can't use that "PoRtland dosnt wnt to trade him to a gaod taem whre he wil start" s**t.

Or maybe he'll just resort to the "Nate htes sPainsh playerz whch iz why he didt suceed" excuse.
