VS

Toronto Blue Jays

http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/milano_jays.jpg

Tuesday, September 21, 7:07 PM ET

4-5, 4.02 ERA http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/sea_French.jpg (http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=448287) vs http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/tor-Rzepczynski.jpg (http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=519240) 1-4, 6.15 ERA
Luke French...Marc Rzepczynski

French: The third time is proving to be the charm for the left-hander, who is winding up his third stint with the Mariners this season. His pitches are better, he composure is solid and he has definitely worked himself into rotation consideration for 2011.

Rzepczynski: Rzepczynski was solid in his last outing vs. the Orioles, throwing five innings of two-run ball. But in his last six starts he has failed to pitch beyond the sixth inning. Over that span, Rzepczynski has issued more walks than strikeouts.

Wednesday, September 22, 7:07 PM ET

2-8, 4.14 ERA http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/sea_Pauley.jpg (http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=456102) vs http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/jays_Drabek.jpg (http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=475138) 0-1, 4.50 ERA
David Pauley...Kyle Drabek

Pauley: Were going to Jersey Shore, *****. The right-hander hopes to finish the season strong to give him a feel-good attitude heading into the offseason. Primarily because of the lack of offense, the 27-year-old takes a five-start winless streak into the game.

Drabek: In his first big league appearance, Drabek turned in a quality start for the Jays. The righty went six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits and three walks. Backed by an impressive defensive performance, the youngster escaped several jams.

Thursday, September 23, 12:37 PM ET

12-11, 2.35 ERA http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/sea_Hernandez.jpg (http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=433587) vs http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/jays_Hill.jpg (http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=429718) 0-2, 4.09 ERA
Felix Hernandez...Shawn Hill

The King: With six more scoreless innings, the Cy Young Award candidate will have pitched 200 scoreless innings during the season, more than he had last season when he won 19 games. King Felix took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in his last start.

Shawn Hill: Hill's second outing was similar to his first. The 29-year old Canadian eclipsed the five-inning mark for the second consecutive game, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on nine hits. Hill surrendered his first home run of the season.

I had another thread title name in mind using Fister, but it would probably have resulted in me being permanently banned from this site :D

I say the first 10' MLB wins for Hill and Drabek. But god-dam Rzep will loose again ... he just doesn't bring any confidence in me, I have seen him pitch his last two games and his mechanics and way he pitches is just not good.

To bad you couldn't post your thread I'd StealingSigns, it would have been a good one.

I am really excited to see Drabek again. Would love to see him have an amazing start.

Hopefully Rzep keeps the momentum going from his start vs the Orioles. At this point, he is probably auditioning for long relief in the '11 pen.

2 things everyone might not know off hand:

1. The Jays are currently tied for the 15th worst record in the major leagues. This number is actually very crucial that they stay in the bottom 15 to finish the year for draft pick reasons. Now you might be thinking who the heck cares whether it's 15th or 16th the difference is insignificant. The difference is huge in terms of free agency. If anyone thinks that the Jays may actually sign a big free agent for the first time in 5 years you can cross off all the type A's if they are not in the bottom 15 protected zone. There is NO chance AA will lose his 1st round pick to sign someone. However, if they were in the bottom 15 you would only be losing a 2nd rounder (a pick in the mid-60's) to sign a type A. That pick would be insignificant especially considering the compensation picks the Jays will receive for possibly losing Scott Downs, Jason Frasor and/or John Buck.

2. Brett Cecil, scheduled to pitch Friday is already at his innings-cap limit. Now I'm not sure if he's actually starting Friday but I certainly hope that if he does that that is his last start of the year. Shaun Marcum is at his innings limit if you compare this season to 2008. Now his career high is actually 2007 which would allow him to make his final 2 starts but considering he had Tommy John surgery and missed a whole year I think some discretion should be used here. I'm assuming the Jays staff is aware of this and that is why Rzepczynski is starting tonight.

Assuming Cecil does make his Friday start, after that it should be Romero Saturday, Rzepczynski Sunday, Drabek Monday, Hill Tuesday, spot starter Wednesday, Romero Thursday, Rzepczynski Friday, Drabek/spot Saturday, Hill Sunday. I really hope they are smart with Cecil and Marcum instead of continually running them out there for a few more wins.

Rzepczynski is painful to watch at times. I understand getting hit but you have to throw strikes at the MLB level

I think I've watched one Jays game since they switched to SN1, as opposed to watching basically every game like I was before. I also have Halo Reach so that doesn't help.

Hmm, the Jays might have just put an end to Felix's Cy Young bid (through no fault of his own, interestingly enough). A complete game one-run loss has pretty much been the story of his season, hasn't it.
