I think they put on great performances when they played against each other, but were they rivals at any point in their careers?

Cleveland and Miami have never been contenders the same year and they've never met in the playoffs.

I'd even say their friendship is more well documented than their supposed rivalry.

What do you guys think?

A whole forum to themselves and this garbage gets posted in the NBA forum?

I wouldn't even want to read this garbage if it was posted where it was supposed to be. I hate it when sports fans act like high school drama queens.,

That's whats missing from today's NBA, and a lot of people miss the 80s-90s because of it. Comments from legends like Bird and Magic saying they would never team with their rivals.....no ****. They hated each other and their teams did battle all the time. Definitely not the case with Wade and Lebron.

it's totally different. those guys developed their rivalry through college. and they only played twice a year besides the finals. not to mention, the rivalry came with an unfettering respect. jordan had rivals because he pissed people off with his mouth and his game. you could hit harder, and bigger bruises carry bigger grudge.

lebron and wade came out at the same time but never crossed paths before then (i dont believe) lebron was coming out of hs, wade was a senior in college. both like-minded talents with an eye for success beyond the court.

idk, it doesn't bother me so much that that aspect of the game has faded. i like things like sportsmanship and dignity, for some strange reason.

Thanks to everyone who responded politely. I honestly never got the sense they were rivals, but the media and the people who believe anything seem to think differently.

For those questioning whether this belongs in the Heat forums, you're the same ones getting off on MJ, Bird, Magic, and Barkley all saying "we would never team up with a rival," so I'm asking the NBA fans what their perception is, not Heat fans.

Wade-LeBron had better rivalry than LeBron-Kobe. At least Wade-LeBron has had countless great games where they went on each other and posted great stats on the same match; Therefore, a lot of exciting matches. But they haven't met in the playoffs, it diminishes their rivalry value. I can't recall anything close to that between LeBron and Kobe one on one. And they haven't met in the playoffs either. Media is ******** when they used to say LeBron and Kobe were rivals. All made up crap.

Yup.

There has been good Cav/Heat and Cav/Laker games that were hyped up due to the stars. However, there has been no rivalry because all of those games have been meaningless.
