Every summer, PSD holds an NBA Mock Offseason. Exactly what it sounds like, this game is a mock of the real 2010 offseason which starts off from the date the Lakers won the NBA Championship. Posters on PSD act as the GMs of assigned teams and they make trades, draft players, and sign free agents to try to create the best team. These are the Mock NBA Playoffs.

This first round match-up features the top seeded Orlando Magic versus the 8th seeded Charlotte Bobcats. The Magic have home-court advantage.

Vote for who you think would win in a 7 game series. Keep in mind these are not the real-life teams.

Magic:

C-Dwight Howard/Aaron Gray
PF-Elton Brand/Glen Davis
SF-Marvin Williams/Jerry Stackhouse
SG-Dwyane Wade/Flip Murray/Antoine Wright
PG-Jameer Nelson/Eddie House

Bobcats:

C-DeMarcus Cousins/JaVale McGee/Ryan Hollins
PF-David Lee/Luc Richard Mbah a Moute/Ed Davis
SF-Wesley Johnson/Al Thornton/Sonny Weems
SG-J.R Smith/Wilson Chandler/Wayne Ellington
PG-Johnny Flynn/George Hill/Toney Douglas

Magic Write-up:

The Bobcats have assembled an impressive mix of both promising and proven talent while also retaining some playoff-seasoned young players. We congratulate Swayze and arkanian on making the playoffs and wish them the best of luck in this series.

Frontcourt:

Anchored by the two-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Dwight Howard, our frontcourt is one of the most versatile in the league. David Lee, Charlotte’s feature guy in the post, was abused by Howard in their three meetings this season. In fact, Lee posted worse averages in three games against the Magic than any other team he faced. Howard, meanwhile averaged 23 and 13 against Lee and the Knicks last season. Granted, the real-life Knicks are a poor defensive team but so are these Bobcats.

Elton Brand, meanwhile, will shoulder the task of bodying up with the likes of DeMarcus Cousins and JaVale McGee. Brand’s skills have certainly diminished from his MVP-caliber days but he is still a solid post defender and has gotten into much better shape over the offseason. Cousins is a force to be reckoned with inside, but he is inexperienced and poorly conditioned. Brand has the girth and length to bang with him inside and the smarts to contain him over the course of a 7 game series.

Marvin Williams will see 28-34 minutes a game in this series and while he is no superstar, his solid all-around game and heavier physique will give him the edge against the wiry Wes Johnson.

Backcourt:

This is where we feel the series is really won for us. With Howard inside, Dwyane Wade and Jameer Nelson will dominate Charlotte’s backcourt. J.R. Smith and Johnny Flynn are poor defenders on the ball and no one on their bench is capable of limiting Wade on the perimeter. Offensively, they will do their jobs but their production won't sniff Wade and Nelson's.

Bench:

Personally, I am very fond of the depth the Bobcats have. Their second unit trumps most of what our bench can offer in terms of talent but we field an experienced group of reserves with a collective four Finals trips and two NBA Championships. Our eight man rotation is better than theirs and in the postseason, that's what we need.

Conclusion:

The duo of Wade and Howard is the most dominant, explosive pair these mock playoffs have to offer. The defensively challenged Bobcats will have no answer for either and we feel our eight man rotation is clearly the superior between these two teams and will have no problem overwhelming the insanely talented, but inexperienced Bobcats in four or five games. Best of luck again to Swayze and arkanian.

The Bobcats did not send in a write-up.

Well the Wade and Howard combination is just lethal. Combine that with the youth and inexperience of the Bobcats team and you have an easy sweep.

Magic in 4.

As you can see the East was very week this time around, although the Bobcats did build an impressive future.
