I hope he has saved some homers for the Yankees, it is always fun reading their PSD forum when he is schooling them.

Toronto Blue Jays 3B/OF Jose Bautista was voted as the HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH for August by the TORONTO CHAPTER of the BBWAA

I think it's just a Blue Jays thing...although he probably deserves to win an AL wide award as well.

At the end it also says "also receiving votes were Brandon Morrow, Kevin Gregg, and Brett Cecil". So, I think it's just a team award. Sorry to rain on the parade :)

edit: I see he has won the AL award as well. Congrats to Jose Beardtista!

There should be a debate for Bautista for M.V.P.

Will he get it, not a chance.

^ If the jays can win some more ball games, why not?

Umm. His name is Josh Hamilton, and he is having a monster season for a team doing much better then Jays unfortunately....Jose should lead the Majors in HR's though, so that is 1 award on the way that has never come north of the border before at least :).

NOTE:

If he hits like this next year, can you imagine the contract he will get!!!!! I am thinking like 75 Million over 5 years....and his agent would probably laugh at that number if he produces like this again. What do you think his market value is worth? He has one of the best OF arms in baseball, he can play all 3 OF positions, both corner infield positions , and he rakes.....

Bautista does not even deserve consideration for the MVP, and it has nothing to do with the record the Jays have.

if it has nothing to do with record why shouldnt he be considerd? first place in hr and second in rbi defenitly deserves some votes.

Why doesn't he deserve consideration?

1st in HR's
2nd in RBI
7th in runs
3rd in SLG%
2nd in walks
3rd in OPS

Not to mention the possibility of him finishing the season with a .270/.390/.625/1.015 50 HR 127 RBI 100 BB That looks like a pretty good line. I still think Cabrera is more deserving but to day Bautista doesn't even deserve consideration is ridiculous.

Because A) Josh Hamilton is flat out dominating right now and B) even after Hamilton Bautista is still 6th in the AL in WAR

He has had a great season, and you can make a strong argument of him maybe finishing second on the ballot but it would still be a long way off from Hamilton.

Josh Hamilton has practically been Jesus on the field this year. He's playing a different game than everybody else.

Is it just me or has everyone in the league become really aggressive against Jose Bautista ever since his power development; ex.(Nova, Hickox)

why would they be "agressive" towards a scrub platoon player that he was before this season?

Umpires seem to give benefit to the pitchers on some pitches against Bautista

Yeah Josh Hamilton should win the MVP. I think Bautista might come in third, Cabrera will come before him.

Bautista will get considered. Hamilton and Cabrera are first basemen so that hurts them. Cabrera Still wins it though.

not as much as being on a 4th place team

Hamilton is the easy MVP up until this point but depending on the severity of his injury voters might sway towards Miguel Cabrera. But to say Jose isn't in the mix is pretty ridiculous.

Bautista is having an amazing season. He will be only the second BlueJay to win the AL homerun title and he should finish top 5 in other power categories. He won't win the MVP, but that shouldn't diminish what has been a great season.
