This topic will probably be the main focus as the 2012 Summer Olympics are basically right around the corner.

Durant honestly looks like he can be great in any type of basketball, with basically 0 experience for Team USA hes putting up crazy numbers.

good question, you might have to end up puttin either of them at PF or durant at SG

LeBron is the leader of the team and a playmaker. No way Durant starts over him.

LeBron isn't a leader at all.

They wanted to cut his *** 2 years ago, but had to keep him because of Nike.

I agree that Lebron would likely start over Durant or at least be placed at power forward, but Lebron is not the leader of that team. Lebron's massive distractions and issues caused Team USA to come ridiculously close to kicking him off the team in 2007.

no Lebron can play 1-4 and some point of the game he could play the 5...Durrant plays 2-4...What separating the two is lebron passing ability!

I would start Lebron over him, but that's just what I'd do. He probably won't choose to play anyways.

It really depends on who would help the team out more in 2012. You have to assume they'd just move Lebron up a spot, or move Durant down a spot. But if they had to choose, i'd say they go with the player with the jump shot. You do need a solid jumper under international rules..

Either way though, Lebron would probably get the nod due to his longevity in international play and "expertise".

You'd start both...
Lebron and Durant would have both forward spots, with Dwight at center, Kobe will likely be at the 2, and pg will be interesting.

Well I'd clearly choose Durant because of obvious reasons.

But as everyone's already said, the solution is simple. You slide LeBron over to the four. Really not too much of a problem.

Lebron is better so he should start. But even if he wasn't better, Lebron has to start. He would throw a hissy fit and quit if he didn't. He's too talented to let him walk off the roster, so you have to start Lebron. If you can put Durant or Lebron at PF, that's the best situation.

Starting 5 for 2012 olympics. I am pretty confident about this.

this thread is ridiculous. easily lebron. he will be in his prime at 27 and he is a freak of nature. durant is a one-trick pny. he is a skinny crappy defender who can only shoot. lebron can assist, rebound, defend, and score better and more versatile than KD. also you cna start them both. lebron can be a SG, PG, PF. Projected lineup 2012
Pg:CP3
SG:Wade(hell be 31, but as we know team usa likes to have veterans ie jkidd 08)
Sf: Durant
Pf: Lebron - in international play the size duznt matter as much. lebrons strenght is unmatched so he will still dominate on 6'10 guys.

Durant is better than Lebron

Durant never quit on his team and he outplayed Lebron for most of the season after the ASB. Given Lebron's history, I would definitely not start him knowing that he's representing our entire country.

They should take the player who continues to commit to team USA leading up to the 2012 Olympics.

Could you really imagine LeBron coming of the bench? He's one of the most talented players of our generation. Today, I'd say you start him over Durant or slide him into the power forward position where I think he's strong and big enough to play. That said, anything could happen between now and the summer of 2012.
