"I'm not changing anything," McGrady said.

"I'm only 31 years old. I'm not 44 or 41. ... I might not be dunking on anybody like I used to, but I'm going to put the ball in the hole. Who was that, (Mehmet) Okur, I dunked on in '03? I might not be doing stuff like that ... but I still can put it in the hole.

I think he means he dunked on Shawn Bradley.

But anyways, it's one thing to say that and another to actually prove it. I'll wait until I actually see something from his game before declaring that he is not washed up.

I do think that he still has something left in the tank but the first line has me thinking that he'll be another AI. Maybe it was taken out of context but he has to accept the fact that he's going to be a role player now

People read too much into it (age). It's not like God or somebody came down and took my talent away and I can't play basketball no more. I was dealing with surgery. I had microfracture surgery. Everybody that had that surgery, it was going to take a year and a half, two years to recover from that.

i mean idk we have yet to see him play healthy and i think he finally is after pretty much resting all last season. i think he can still be a key contributor if he could stay healthy especially because he feels like he has to prove something before everyone always thought of tmac as great player but now everyone is qustioning him i know he has heard the bashing on espn and read it in magazines and online. so he feels like he has to be good and honestly on the rockets he did good but he always looked like...idk how to decribe just not the same determination as on the magic. i feel like that really ruined him emotionally you know that takes a lot out of you when you drop 50 and your team loses. i mean im not making excuses for him but you guys have to put yourself in the players shoes sometimes. so i see him having the same amount of emmotion he had with the magic just with the freshness from having his youth but he still could put up 20 ppg. especially when tayshaun only averaged 13.5 and ben gordon only averaged 13.8 and villanueva averaged 11.9. they need again who isnt afraid to take the shots and tmac can take and make shots. anyone who can do this cant hurt a team:

Well, in order for him to kill it, Detroit is going to need to make some trades. Ben Gordon, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Jonas Jerebko, and possibly a few others still stand in his way. No way he sees more than 20 minutes a game with all of them standing in his way.

So unless Detroit makes some moves, he's probably going to be coming off the bench in a limited role.

man, its sad to see a basketball player like him in this situation. he wants to prove he is still almost the same but no owner is going to take a risk. he should have come to the Warriors. he would have gotten a lot more playing time here

What was he supposed to say? That he doesn't have much left and that the Pistons are a bunch of idiots for signing him?

In my opinion, he was never a very good shooter to begin with. He got away with it because the threat of him blowing by his defender meant that he had some room to shoot. But now that he doesn't have that explosive step, his shooting is going to be exposed.

That killer J is what let MJ dominate after he lost some of his "air"...and Kobe does the same.

On the flipside, look at what has become of Vince Carter now that some of his explosiveness has gone away. No J.

of course he's saying this.

i remember a couple years ago he was training in chicago and had had revelations about working out his back and staying healthy. it really didn't help. hate to say it, but i have mild expectations for tmac this year. hoping for the best, though.

I think T-Mac still has game left in him. He might not have the athletisicm like he did in orlando but he has a good offensive game in him...a good back to the basket (one of the best for a guard when he was healthy), he's tall/lanky, good vision, good game smarts...he won't be the same 25+ scorer he was before...but I think he can be in the 'grant hill' stage expect a lil better...he's had enough rest to recover from the knee surgery...remember his first game back in NY...he has game left...he can be a consistent 15-20 point scorer.

Washed up? I don't think so.

However, he will not be anything near what he was. I think he will be effective if his minutes are somewhat limited. The Pistons need to clear the logjam at SG/SF in order for T-Mac to get a solid shot.

I am glad he is optimistic. It's low risk on the Pistond behalf with a possiblity of a medium/high reward.

Best case scenerio is that he stays somewhat healthy and the Pistons can deal him at the deadline.

Care to elaborate? I was going to go ape nuts on you for some reason I held back. Go ahead explain why a guy who was still recovering from MF wont be able to do "it" now that hes almost at that point when most MF players recover.

Not sure why I think SegaSports has a hand in NBA 2K...Sega made a console called the Dreamcast that was release 9/9/99. It was pretty legit. Doesn't Sega still make games?

I was hoping Portland wouldve signed him to the vet minimum because if he didnt work then no biggie it's only about a million. If he produces then the GM looks like a genius.

Personally I think the Pistons scored with McGrady signing in Detroit, he will produce and I really doubt he's washed up.

Why didn't Portland look at McGrady. For the vet min he would have fit your team better than any other team IMO.

You guys have needed a SF for awhile now (portland). why didn't you guys give T-mac a shot? 1.3 mil a year? No risk there.

I've posted this video before, but I'll post it again. T-Mac still has it in him and he proved it on his debut game with the Knicks. The only reason why he slowed down after that is because he was still recovering. Now he should be good. Just look at this, he still got hops:

I think it has something to do with that so-to-speak "bad impression" that went on with T-Mac and the Chicago media or something
