Now that Pacers stalwart Troy Murphy is a Net, Indiana need a new big man. At least so says Danny Granger. FanHouse has more: “First, Larry Bird said it. Now, Danny Granger is being even more specific about what type of move the Indiana Pacers soon could make…’We’re going to have to go after another big, I’m sure,’ said the 6-foot-8 Granger. ‘Losing Troy, he was great. I can play the (power forward) but I’m not a true (power forward). So we’re definitely going to have to add another big, and I think that will be our main focus.’ …’I love them,’ Granger said of the trade acquisitions. ‘I really love them. As soon as it happened, I called Darren Collison because I was really excited about it … Amazing point guard. What he did for New Orleans when Chris Paul was out (the second half of last season with a knee injury). And I think in our system he’ll really thrive. And he shot it well. I think, when he got drafted, they didn’t know how good of a shooter he was.’”

Yeah, he isn't really suited for the Power Forward role, he could probably match-up a couple of times a game, but other than that no way.

Can he? yes... but i doubt he will that often. When O'Brien wants to use a small line-up he will probably slide Granger over and us a PG-SG-SG-SF-C line-up. or double up the PG's (Collison/Ford or Collison/Stephenson)

He'd get eaten alive by the Paus and the Dirks and the Timmies.

He'd get eaten alive by the Paus and the Dirks and the Timmies.

he wouldnt play PF on a consistent basis, and i highly doubt he would match up against those players. It would be on a match-up basis, or in a small line-up.

No, I don't know whose idea it was last year, but when Granger was at the 4 thing got ugly for Indiana.

He played some last year (Sparingly in games). But I thought he said he didn't really like it. I wouldn't want him at PF, hes not a good rebounder.

No, he would get major foul problems and would get dominated by any pf that has some low block skill

just keep him on the wing where he thrives

It's exactly how he put it. Technically he can play the 4 but he's definitely better suited as a 3

he is a 3

on d, he'd only be effective against athletic PFs like Bosh but not the bigger and stronger guys like duncan, garnett, al jeff.

He can't even do it in 2k

No, he would get dominated by any pf that has some low block skill

So basically he'd be alright?

he can get away with it during the regular season at various times, but no way on earth they would succeed by featuring him there

If the Pacers play small-ball with Granger at PF, it'll be against teams with a hybrid PF who tends to play on the perimeter, or against teams with really, really slow PF's. He doesn't play post D that well but gets plenty of steals and deflections on bigs with sub-par ballhandling skills or a high dribble. It's not the ideal situation by any means, but our "coach" wants as many shooters on the floor as possible.

He can be a rashard lewis type PF for Magic and he can def play the PF position in D'Antoni's 7 sec or less. But he isnt a natural 4. His skill set for perfect for small forward.

He can play spot minutes at the 4 when the Pacers are running small (which they could do a lot this season).

If you partner him with a good sized, defensive minded big (ala Roy Hibbert) he could be effective at the 4.

He would need a very good defensive rebounding center to back him up. Did anyone think Rashard Lewis could play PF before he went to Orlando? It seems to work out alright because Garnett only averaged 8ppg and 33%fg vs Orlando in the playoffs.

Yeah I think spot minutes for a couple of minutes but any more than that and it wouldn't work unless you run a very uptempo offense.

He's been doin some talkin lately. Time to quiet down till he wins a bit.

So yea, I'm goin with a big no on the question. See how bad the votes would go if this were a mock league.

this year there was a game where we were up like 24 and indiana starting hitting everything and came back. granger somewhat did shut him down , down the strech in crunch time. and u do know bosh hasnt even play a single minute for the heat and u find it as ur duty to defend him at all costs

drganer was pissed though he hates playing pf. but he does vs raps cause bosh and bargnani are soft. and bosh and granger are like the same weight so he doesnt really get bang around.
