Lets say Melo and CP3 join Amare in NY and make their own trio, who will be the first option and whose team will it be?
I think it will be CP3 most of the time,Melo will probably take the clutch shots and Amare the 3rd option like Bosh in Miami
Whats your opinion?

Whichever player CP3 wants it to be

does that include him?

haha, yes. I basically mean, CP3 should always have high usage, because he is the best facilitator and distributor in the NBA. The offense goes thru him

Agreed, however in crunch time I believe Melo will be the one the ball will more going to the most.

couldn't go wrong with either. But you are probably correct.

There does not always have to be a "#1 option" or a clear cut case of "whose team" it is. I think people need to get over those concepts.

Take Boston for example. Some will say it's Rondo's team because he's their best player, others will insist it's Pierce's, and some people will say KG because he's their voice and their leader (even if he's no longer their best player like he was in year 1 of this experiment). This leads to the conclusion that it's no one players team. It's just a team.

That said, Melo would be taking more shots than the other two on offense, and Paul would be their best player. If that's how you define "whose team it is", then it's his.

PS: Getting ahead of ourselves just a bit here? ...

Definitely. As a Knick fan, I love the possibility, but I also know there is a high chance we don't get either Melo or CP3, so this thread should be made when this actually goes down, not as a hypothetical.

I think it would be
1.Melo
2.CP3
3.Amare

Does it have "Rubio (2015 All Star)" in the PG position? :p

what I don't get is why NY fans are doing this. What I mean is, they spent over a year on the LeBron excitement, and when LeBron passed on them, I went into the NY forum, and it was sheer chaos. Why set yourself up for future possible disappointment again?

I completely agree.

Of course it's very exciting being strongly linked with some of the best players in the NBA but I hate to get too far ahead of myself.

Just for the fun of it though, Melo would be the number 1 option because he would take the most shots. He'd probably get about 18 a game, CP3 would get about 15/16 a game and Amar'e would get about 12/13 a game (a lot of oops from CP3).

CP3 would be the teams best player but Melo would be the number 1 option on offense.

CP3 will be the #1 option

if it were to happen, my vote would be 'melo. He's got all round scoring skills, the post, the break, the outside jumper, dude is just a scorer, plain and simple. I would equate 'melo's role on such a team to a paul pierce on the celtics.

Amare is a great option in his own right, but he isn't as dynamic, or as proficient as melo. CP3 will be the engine that drives them, and as a pg, he'll be charged with getting them shots, so his own shot will ultimately be a secondary weapon.

It's also because of the dynamic and supporting roles each of these guys would play for each other that I think they could be more dangerous than the miami 3. No redundency on the wing, and a guy who would be looking to move the ball instead of 3 guys who look to create their own shots more often than not.

my lord i hope this doesnt happen, we dont need another Miami type team! or i will not watch the nba at all. What the **** happened to elite players wanting to win one by themselves?!? Ruining the league!

CP3 is the best quarterback in the NBA. He is the filter of any team he plays on. All I know is that if Melo and CP3 join Amare, then Melo and Amare's stats will baloon, as Melo's did when he was with AI, and Amare's did with a peak Nash.

If this happens, I think it depends on who the coach is

Amare should be the 1st option because he needs to be setup more so than the other 2. Melo and Paul can create at will and Amare is a finisher especially from great passers like CP3, I think Nash is gonna miss Amare bigtime.

personally I think that trio would be better than Wade/LeBron/Bosh. I say that because CP3 can create better than any of them and Melo is a beast just like LBJ and Amare is more aggresive and just better than Bosh imo anyway. Of course head to head would all depend on how the rest of the team looks.

I would say CP3 in 2008 and 2009 is more productive than Melo or Amare, but if CP3 last year is the one we see in NY than I would say Amare is the #1 guy.
