Sportsnet article form this afternoon:

What could the Jays get at this point if this deal gets done?

Will they have to eat the rest of his salary to get any decent prospects back?

they will probably have to eat all his salary and still be lucky to end up with a deacent prospect

I would take just about anything to move him.

He's also sitting out for the second straight game

Get rid of the guy. I don't know what it is but that guy just annoys the hell out of me.

Overbay was a very good 1B up until he broke his hand. He just hasn't lived up to the offense after that, but has been a great defensive 1B for us.

I know its time to move on, but he'd be a very good bench guy on a contender.

Wasnt the whole point of moving overbay quick in the first place to get wallace up??.. Who would come up in his place, and if Lind took 1st over, who'd be the DH/OF? Do we even have anyone that can get called up now and actually become a starter in the OF??

Not criticizing, but just curious as to what we might end up doing.

Pay all his salary and then some to get a prospect you value

Hopefully, he is traded in the next few days. I am sure someone in our outfield in Triple AAA or Double AA might get called up, or McCoy.

Perhaps JPA will stay up after Buck comes off the DL. He and Buck might share catching and DH duties? I'm sure the outfield will be Wells, Batista, Wise, and Snider.

I'd really like to see him get traded so Lind can get some time at first or possibly JP Arencibia getting some more time in the big leagues.

he cleared waivers so no one claimed him i think

Some people suggested Frasor or Buck are good candiates for waiver but i thought Overbay was the best candiate. I dont really much in return and expect jays to eat almost all of his salary. BTW how was Lind at 1st base today?

Putting Lind at 1B allows us to use the DH spot to have Lewis, Wells, Bautista and Snider all play everyday and it lets Cito play his boy E5.

But only in some cases. If you're trading Halladay, take a decent package instead of a great one just so you don't have to pay any part of his salary.

LF - Lewis
CF - Wells
RF - Snider
1B - Lind
3B - Bautista
DH - Encarnacion

not gonna lie, i enjoy Bautista at RF. That arm of his is :speechless: sometimes. And EE hasn't been absolutely brutal at 3B lately. Snider at DH wouldn't cause much of a problem.

Today, Lewis was at DH, Snider in LF, Bautista in RF and Encarnacion was at 3B. I like having Bautista's rocket out in RF but I think your lineup might be the best defensively.

they should deal him. lind at dh and arencibia an first. my brother made a good point in saying that j.p might not be the best at calling games. it is still waaay too early to tell but marcum got rocked hard (really unusual) when he was calling and in his debut despite the amazing batting display the jays still coughed up double digit runs.

marcum can shake him off whenever he feels like it

Overbay has been all class during his time in TO. I kind of hope he stays around another year or two, but if he is leaving I'll wish him all the best.

it's unfortunate he was never the same after that injury. In 06 he had great numbers.

ive read in a few areas about EE being our 3B next year.. isnt the dude a FA?

As for Overbay i have no problems with him
he cleared waivers because he is not the type of player thats going to put a team over the top for a WS.

they can now trade him anywhere (well he has a no trade still)

I believe he will end up in ATL and they will move Glaus back to 3B now that chipper is out for the season.

Overbay has always been a classy guy and better yet, he seems to be a team guy too. If he can produce offensively, I wouldn't hate the idea of him coming back… if we can have all of our guys playing every day that need to be playing.

The "dude" known as EE is NOT a free agent until after next season.

Don't forget...Overbay's favourite player when he was growing up was Johnny O!! That's gotta count for something!

Lind goes to 1B, Encarnaciom to DH, Bautista to 3B and Lewis & Snider play OF every day

EE has played well of late.

I actually dont mind him.

I dont mind DHing Encarnasion and keep him as a back up 3b. We can build up value without giving up defense. Than maybe we can trade EE away for sum good spects

nithanyo

We can have a good lineup next season without making many offseason moves

Lewis LF
Escobar SS
Wells CF
Bautista 3B
Lind 1B
Hill 2B
Snider RF
Arencibi C
Encarnasion DH

Not a bad lineup. We could upgrade at Lewis and Encarnasion. We need a bouncebac season from Lind and Hill. We need Wells and Bautista to hit like this year. We need Snide and Arencibia to develop and hit well

EE is a prime candidate to be non-tendered.
