Hasn't Dice-K normally pitched very well versus us? I just get that feeling, I haven't checked the stats on this one though.

Last time Dice K pitched against us he gave up 2 runs over 6 innings I hope we take 2/3 this series and keep some of this momentum.

Edit: Found some lifetime stats for Dice K vs the Jays:
6 Wins, 1 Loss, 55 Strikeouts, and 3.45 ERA

Be real nice to win this series and keep the tires rolling. We have the right guys going to the mound, tho the Sox have some tough guys going against us. Hopefully the bats keep doing what they are doing and we get some nice follow up games from Romero, Cecil and a bounceback from Marcum.

Im excited... hopefully we can continue this nice little streak. If we take 2 of 3 that would be great. And were kind of creeping into the playoff picture. If we do well against our division the rest of the way, we could make it fun. But who knows, im just excited by the way there playing.

Heres to hoping it continues for the next few years

and a bounceback from Marcum.

He will definitely have a bounce back. I think we're guarenteed to take at least 1 out of 3 games because Marcum won't tolerate another sub-par performance.

I think they take 2 of 3. I also think the Jays will finish ahead of BOS at the end of the year, which would be an insane thought to most critics at the start of the year.

blujaysrock

Nice pitching match ups but I think they take 2 of 3 as well. It sure would be nice to sweep them, but our hitting needs to come up big for us.

H-MYK
08-09-2010, 07:48 PM
It says that Dice-K is 4-1 vs the Jays with a 3.86 ERA and 41 Ks while Romero is 1-3, 7.66 ERA, 2.28 WHIP, 23 Ks. This is within the last 5 years.

I am nto saying the jays would make the playoffs but if jays get to like 5 Games back of the WC before the september, it will make the rest of the season more interesting. I say Jay win 2/3. Dice-K doesnt scare me because if he pitches well he still wont go deep into a game.

Hopefully we can win the series and make a run at catching Boston in the standings. I believe we are 4 back now. I think with Boston's injury issues we can make a run at them.
On another note, I know he just signed a minor league deal with them, but will Carlos Delgado be with the Sox for the series?

Enjoy Arencibia while you can, he will be sent back down on August 20th and even when he gets called up on September 1st he won't play as much as Buck so that they can maintain Buck's type B.

100 level outfield over the opponents bp. From that spot you can easily slide around to behind home plate. I always have trouble getting through security from the 500 level to 100 level so I usually start with a 100 level ticket (outfield is cheapest).

It's not even Camp though. it's just like everytime the bullpen comes in they give up runs. If our bullpen was consistent we could be right in the mix for the playoffs already. I dunno the exact number but somewhere are like 15-20 of our games have been lost by someone in the bullpen. They give up leads way too often. It sucks.

Nah I'm not blaming the loss on him. It's just frusturating to have guys in scoring position and him come up and swing at the first pitch and pop out. Like to see him take some pitches and maybe take a walk once in a while or at least work the count.

Romero didn't look good tnite. Tough for Camp, too. Mike Lowell is a Jays killer.

And I wasn't aware that he attended Vernon Wells' "School of Pop-ups".

He swings at too many ptiches and gets under the ball too much this season. There are so many pitches, that in years past, he would drive to the gap, yet this year he gets under them and pops them up to the infield or shallow outfield.

Thats exactly what Anthopolous means when he says in the AL, you need guys that can get swinging strikes in the zone. A guy like Marcum is always gonna struggle against patient lineups like the Yankees and Red Sox.

Thats why i think that if the Jays can get value for Marcum in the offseason, they should deal him

I know it sounds way too simple to work at the big league level, but it really does seem like if guys can lay off Marcum's changeup he really can't be all that effective, especially against left handed hitters. We've seen the Rays do it, we've seen the Sox do it. Doesn't help that he couldn't get a handle on any of his pitches tonight, but even if he was locating his hard stuff I think he still gets knocked around a bit.

I agree... I read something like hitters swing and miss 50% of the time on his changeups. His fastball is very hittable so if hitters lay off the change, he becomes really easy to hit

i'd be worried about having that type of pitcher especially in a division known for patience
