The wonderful world of blogging strikes again, just as I click ‘publish’ on a rumored trade between the Bulls and Blazers, news breaks. From the twitter of TNT reporter and NBA.com’s David Aldridge the following:

Bulls add to their depth, sign former Spur Keith Bogans to a two-year deal, 2nd year partial guarantee. Story up soon on NBA.com.

Bulls.com reporter Sam Smith also tweeted the following regarding the deal:

The Bulls reached agreement with Keith Bogans on a two year deal valued at about $2.5 million, NBA sources confirmed Saturday.

Bogans is a 6-5 shooting guard who will enter his 8th season in the NBA. The signing of Bogans gives the Bulls their third perimeter free agent signing, and also their third ’shooting guard’ behind Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver. With those three and Luol Deng at the perimeter, one would assume the Bulls are pretty set. I would struggle to understand the Bulls making commitments to these three players only to deal for Fernandez, it just does not make much sense. This is however the NBA where common sense often times does not happen. This signing may not be a nail in the coffin of a potential Bulls/Blazers deal for Rudy, but the Undertaker is definitely looming around the corner with a tombstone.

All three of the teams who a little over 10 days ago were being reported as being officially ‘in the running’ for Fernandez’ services have made moves to sign a perimeter player. Boston signed Von Wafer, New York signed Roger Mason Jr and Chicago has now signed Keith Bogans. Perhaps the Blazers’ asking price was too high for those involved, as many reports had the Blazers asking for a future first round pick in return. Blazer fans should either hope Fernandez is part of a package deal or that he finds his swagger playing for the Spanish National Team because the market for Fernandez is getting smaller by the day.

could this just be part of a sign and trade type of move ??? Bogans + a 2nd rd pck to the Blazers for Rudy -- the money seems to potentially equal what Rudy will make the next year ( assuming Bogans gets 50% -- $1.25 of the $2.5 being indicated - keep in mind that the 2nd year is being reported as partial guarantee ....

I've always been a Bogans fan. He's been a cooperative and productive bench player everywhere he's gone.

He won't get much PT behind Brewer, Korver and possibly Rudy, but he's good injury insurance.

Decent pickup but I don't think it necessarily means no Rudy. It actually gives them more leverage in trade talks with Portland

The Chicago Bulls have signed guard Keith Bogans to a two-year contract worth $ 2.5 million.

He is a really good player, great 3 point shooter who can provide the bulls with some depth and help off the bench, but i would love to see rudy Fernandez in a bulls uniform.

Rudy has to be a bull. It'd be perfect, especially since he's a spaniard.

I've always liked Bogans. Thought the Spurs should have given him more time last year.

Exactly what I was going to say. I think this deal was made to try to force Portland to lower their asking price for Rudy. We don't need Rudy as much as the Blazers need to trade him and unless there are some unnamed/ surprise teams that are in the running, or unless they're able to package him in a deal, we're their last hope. Otherwise, he'll become an even bigger distraction before bolting back to Europe causing them to lose him for nothing.

He USED to be a real good role player. He showed last year that he isn't the defensive-stopper he once was, and my god his shot is not good. Like its like every now and then he'll hit the corner, and miss from every other angle. This will be a good back-up if he's going to be riding the bench and we still get Rudy. If this is our last move, then this was ****.

oh god what some of you know in basketball...... he will be solid, promise and ill even take a bet on it.
