Hmm so was the guy on NFL network wrong? He said we were offering 32Mil sure seems like we were trying to lowball him now lol...

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Seahawks have agreed to terms with No. 6 overall pick LT Russell Okung on a six-year, $58 million contract, including $30 million guaranteed.
Okung is the final first-rounder to sign, alleviating concerns that the labor uncertainty would cause more holdouts this summer. Last year's sixth overall pick Andre Smith, who didn't sign until August 30, received "only" $21 million guaranteed and $42 million maximum over six years. Despite missing a week of camp, Okung is expected to step right as Seattle's blindside starter. He's not Walter Jones, but he was considered the best offensive lineman in the draft. Im with you on that lol i just found it funny because reports indicated he was offered 32Mil and they were wrong. 30Mil is about what i expected him to get.

FINALLY... Those were the baseline terms written out between the Berry and Haden contracts. IMO, Okung was getting some crappy advice from his Agent and I'm just glad he's at camp now...

He is getting paid a little less than I though he would. I am happy for that. rookies don't need that kind of money.

NFL.com says 6 year 46.5 mil and 30 guaranteed

hahaha, if you break it down and look at it and the length of the contract, he signed for the cheapest out of the top 9.

Okung's contract has incentives or as NFL.com is calling them 'escalators' that could make his contract worth up to 58 million.

Of the past couple years, which OT do you think is the best commign out of college?

Jason Smith, Russel Okung, Jake Long, or Joe Thomas.

Now we just need to grab a young solid OG next year, or grab a C. Depending on what we want to do with Unger.

Jake Long or Joe Thomas

I would have to say Jake Long he is just massive and can run and pass block well.

i think the next spot we need to go after next year in the draft is get a solid right tackle

I disagree. Locklear is a solid RT when we moved him to LT however he sucked.

Id take Jake Long but its unfair to compare any of these guys to Okung who hasn't played yet and Oher who had 1 pretty good season these things you can only compare when Okung and Oher are in there 3rd year.

Smith was the Rams LT right? If so he stunk.

Magic12ball
08-09-2010, 05:19 PM
How do you mean it? Like the best prospect? Or the guy who was immediately the best.

If the former, Jake Long. If the latter, Joe Thomas.

Jason Smith underwent a nasty concussion and a pretty severe toe injury. He has actually been moved to RT with Jason Saffold at LT. Saffold looks natural at the position. Jason Smith looks like a future pro-bowler at RT. All in all, the Rams have a pretty nasty OL in the making. Jason Brown is one of the best at C, Bell is a pretty good G, and Saffold and Smith should be a solid set of bookends for them.

Add that to Steven Jackson (who recently added some muscle and now weighs in at 244 lbs), two highly underrated receivers in Avery and Gibson, and a potential Franchise QB in Bradford, and the Rams might actually be on the track to success. But then again, they are the rams.

Sorry for the off topic-ness. Back on topic, Okung supposedly has a ways to go, but thats to be expected from any rookie OT. Sucks he missed some time in TC.

seahawks509

I meant it as who was the best prospect comming out of college, not who is the best NFL OT. Obviously because Okung hasn't played yet and Smith has sucked it up.

Disagree, Locklear is a good RT, and we need to get younger at the OG spot. Especially if Unger is going to move to C. Also we need DE.
