View Full Version : Thank you to the flamers in the post 'Dear Cito' (I understand sabermetrics now)

StealingSigns , JaysFan87 , Twitchy, wamco , broncosfan_101 dropped some knowledge on me.

Back in the post by Stealing Signs -'Dear cito' He stated that our beloved manager Cito Gastonand Dwayne Murphy should "embrace stats such as OBP". I replayed to that post, that stats such as OBP are over-rated and only stats about runs are important ( RBI, Runs scored) And a minor back lash insused. Seeing as it was 'more' than a few guys replying with the ridiculousness of my post I decided to study up on Sabermetrics knowing there argument was rooted in those numbers rather than traditional baseball stats.

I am pleased now to say "I see the light" I realize now that the new stats have relevance and are a better way in showing the value of a player. Old stats like Rbi's dont take into account where the player bats in the lineup, what other batters have done (good or bad) or how many outs that player makes.

Ironically, I would like the thank the above posters for changing a traditional baseball mind to a more refined baseball mind.
