Just my own personal dream of course. I know there are several more deserving cities ahead of Austin. Just FYI, Austin is the 15th largest city in the US and has a metro population nearing 2 million. Austin also sits right between Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio...So it would probably never happen.

This thread is weak. I understand it's a slow sports time... so you've created multiple threads on random topics to entertain... and that's cool. But please. A little more effort.

How about creating an expansion team by taking a look at each teams rosters, guessing at the 8 players that team would protect, then making the best team available with those players.

Using the Pacific division as an example, I can pick:

PG- Beno Udrih
SG- Sasha Vujacic
SF- Grant Hill
PF- Craig Smith
C- Dan Gadzuric

Now the difficult part is picking the protected players. As a kings fan, I can guarantee that Tyreke, Cousins and Landry are on the list. I can also safely assume that Whiteside and Casspi are on that list. Then I can guess that Thompson and Greene are included. So do we protect Dalambert or Udrih. Since Beno has a longer contract at $6 million per year, I think we protect Dalambert. That would give us an additional $6 million next year if he is selected.

Try that.

My bad. Wasn't trying to "bash" anyone. Just gave some helpful advice on how to better the thread. As this is a sports forum... just thought more sports related material would be beneficial.

But, explain to me how my suggestion was to blame, and not the more "bashing" response of "epic fail "?

Just curious.

There should be no expansion, if anything there needs to be two teams contracted into one if that makes sense. The first choice would be to contract the two teams and bring back the Seattle Supersonics.

However, putting that notion to the side, if a brand new team would be made (or in the better scenario changing two teams into one and relocating)...i'd like to see this occur:

Minnesota Timberwolves & the New Orleans Hornets become the Las Vegas BlackJacks. (see below....)

Team: the Las Vegas Blackjacks
Conference: West
Division: South West
Rivals: Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns
Playing Style: Run N Gun
Colors: Black red and white (on the jersey the trimming would have Diamond, Heart, Clubs and Spades on it)

I really really like this idea. That would be a great team name and jersey colors.

Reducing the number of teams, instead of expanding, would be better for the league considering the talent wouldn't be as spread out, creating better overall teams and more excitement for the league.
So, just for ***** and giggles, if I had absolute power over the league, this is what I would do (i know a little off topic, if anyone doesn't care for anything other than expansion, then no need to read below):

1. Contract the Hornets and the Timberwolves and recreate the Supersonics.
2. Contract the Clippers & the Kings and create the Las Vegas Blackjacks.
3. Rename the Bobcats the Charlotte Flight.
4. Rename the Thunder the Oklahoma City Outlaws.
5. Relocate the New Jersey Nets to Brooklyn (in process).

Instead of Conferences, there would merely be 3 super Divisions:
West (basicallyPacific & Northwest Divisions): (8 teams)
Denver Nuggets
Golden State Warriors
Las Vegas Blackjacks
Los Angeles Lakers
Phoenix Suns
Portland Trailblazers
Seattle Supersonics
Utah Jazz

Central (basically Central & Southwest Divisions): (10 teams)
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Dallas Mavericks
Detroit Pistons
Houston Rockets
Indiana Pacers
Memphis Grizzlies
Milwaukee Bucks
Oklahoma City Outlaws
San Antonio Spurs

East (basically Southeast & Atlantic Divisions): (10 teams)
Miami Heat
Orlando Magic
Charlotte Flight
Atlanta Hawks
Washington Wizards
Toronto Raptors
Brooklyn Nets
Philadelphia 76ers
New York Knicks
Boston Celtics

With this crap, there are 28 teams still. Instead of having a Western/Eastern conference seperate seeding, it's all one pool of 16 teams with the best record onto the 16th best record.

First Round
1. Lakers vs 16. Spurs
8. Celtics vs 9. Nets

4. Warriors vs 13. Pistons
6. Wizards vs 11. Flight

2. Heat vs 15. Hawks
7. Knicks vs 10. Outlaws

3. Magic vs 14. Blackjacks
5. Bulls vs 12. Pacers

Second Round
1. Lakers vs 8. Celtics
4. Warriors vs 6. Wizards

2. Heat vs 7. Knicks
3. Magic vs 5. Bulls

Third Round
1. Lakers vs 4. Warriors
2. Heat vs 3. Magic

Finals
4. Warriors vs 3. Magic
