Last year the teams that made the playoffs (both conferences) that were a surprise were the Bucks and Thunder.

List the two teams (one from each conference) that will be a big surprise if they make the playoffs. Only list teams that you think will possibly make the playoffs.

My picks are the Pistons and Grizzlies

I am not picking the Pistons just because they are my favorite team. I think there are only 6 sure thing playoff picks in the East. The Pistons when healthy still have a decent team. They were injured all year last year. I think many people on here expect them to win 20 games next year. A big surprise, but very possible.

The Grizzlies I picked because I think they are loaded. If they were in the East they would be a playoff team for sure. This will be a suprise to most but I think its going to happen this year. I also could have gone with the Wolves (much improved) in the West.

New Orleans Hornets. I have no reason why other than a gut feeling. Chris Paul is going to go ultimate beast mode.

I like Philly. Jrue Holiday looked pretty comfortable as a rookie last season and should take another stride. I want to say if Evan Turner can have a decent rookie season, he can be the fellow scorer that Iguodala has lacked for his whole career, but Turner and Iguodala play similarly offensively, so I'm not sure how complimentary they will be. Regardless, if Turner has a good rookie season that will be a very good SG/SF combo. Brand, Speights and Smith isn't a bad frontcourt.

Doug Collins is a nutjob though, so who knows.

West: Memphis
East: Bucks I think alot of people haven't been giving them any credit what so ever and will lock up a top 6 seed.

clips and griz should make it with their roster in the west

knicks should make it but looking @ east lower seeds it is going to be very competitive

76ers, bobcats, nets, raps, pistons, cavs?

good thread.

Clips & Grizz are pretty strong in the west. Utah isn't as good, Phx isn't as good, so there might be an opportunity there.

In the east its tough to say. I guess the Knicks should be an outside consideration.

Wizards aren't...

Topic is about teams that will surprise to make the playoffs.
Houston, Memphis, New Orleans and others won't surprise making the playoffs.
So I'll go with Warriors and 76ers.

The bottom of the East will be interesting. The Knicks, Nets, Pistons, Sixers, Bucks and Bobcats will battle it out for the 6, 7 and 8 spot.
