Gallardo hit his third homerun of the year. He is a pitcher... and a batter.

That was #4 this season actually.

95 MPH fastball on the outside corner and he drove it to RF. Impressive.

quite a few have actually

and Zambrano and Wainwright have been better in the past few years overall offensively.

although Wainwright has been slipping rapidly.

Zambrano just swings for the fences every time.

Micah Owings is the best hitting pitcher there is.

Zambrano, Jason Marquis, Mike Hampton, and Micah Owings come to mind as recent examples of good hitting pitchers.
-Zambrano has 20 career home runs with 4 or more in a season 3 times and a career .237 avg.
-Hampton had 16 homers in 15 seasons and a .246 avg.
-Marquis had back to back seasons batting above .290 as a full time starter for St. Louis.
-Owings already has 9 homers in four seasons.

Bumgarners a beast as well with the bat but I don't know if he's anywhere near Gallardo

Carlos Zambrano once hit a homerun from both sides of the plate in the same game.

Mike Leake is bad ***. I'd move him into the field and then make him start every fifth day on the mound.

Micah Owings has a career 5.11 ERA and a career .861 OPS while probably barely even training for offense.

Why is this guy still pitching?

At least Gallardo can pitch unlike Zambrano.

Yes, pitchers suck at hitting...

Right now.

But at the same age, Zambrano was putting up just as good, if not better numbers. However, he wasn't as good at being injured as Gallardo has been.

Really shouldn't make statements like that unless it's a guy like Owings, who has never pitched well.

Carlos Zambrano has almost half the amount of career hrs that BJ Upton has.

Livan Hernandez used to be a pretty good hitter for the Giants a while ago, not sure how he is now.

His days pitching are probably numbered. He was just optioned to AAA and he will likely be nontendered this offseason. A few crappy teams in dire need of pitching will probably give him a chance this offseason but if he doesn't drastically improve he's going to become a "AAAA" pitcher.

He might want to try a Rick Ankiel sometime soon.
