DERON WILLIAMS baby!!!

I'm ok with the John Wall ranking since everyone is assuming hes going to be great. Pretty good list, but if I wanted to be nit picky I would say Curry should be ahead of Jennings and Baron is ranked kind of high (even though we all know he can play).

This list is pathetic, how is Aaron Brooks listed so low? He single scored about 20ppg, super efficient, led the NBA in 3s, would have had about 6-8 apg if he had more finishers under the basket, watching Rockets games, i saw many times when Brooks would penetrate at will, dish it off to a teammate, and botch the finish, with Yao back and a more athletic front line, i see him getting even better. How is Wall so high? The guy hasnt played a game in the NBA. I agree with the top 5, but Nelson, Parker, Curry, Arenas, and Jennings are ranked too high IMO

Curry's advanced stats look pretty good for a rookie PG. He can shoot lights out, assisted 25% of his teams baskets while on the floor, and the very fact that he was able to keep his efficiency where it was while playing alongside the biggest chucker in the NBA is pretty good.

Rose, Williams, Rondo, and Paul will be at the top of that list for quite a while... not necessarily in that order... assuming all four stay healthy. Making a list like this is really hard because it can be interpreted in a few different ways. For instance you can rank based on who is the best true PG, who the best player (who happens to be a PG) is, or who will be the best in their prime...The list is going to look different in all 3 cases.

The only skill Rose will ever have the advantage over Rondo is jumpshooting.

Rose has more talent in one arm than Rondo has total. Rondo is currently maximizing every ounce of talent he has and taking great advantage of playing with hall of famers who cover up is flaws, which he has a few. Rose is bigger, quicker (first step), faster (end to end), stronger, and is far and away a better shooter and is only touching his potential. People who know the game knows this is true. You mean people in Chicago? Rose probably is a better scorer, but why would you want your PG to be a stud scorer. Isnt a PG supposed to set the table? To rack up assists? To run the offense? To play defense and come up with steals/turnovers? To rebound and run transition? To put up triple doubles? To be a floor general, an assistant coach on the court?

And let me say this, when the Celtics were struggling last year everyone (including ALL of you Bulls fans) were saying Pierce, Allen and KG are done. They arent stars anymore. They are old. They cant score. Blaa Blaa Blaaa

But now when we argue about Rondo all those same people say yeah he plays with 3 future HOFers. Well which is it? Are they all studs who make rondo look good or are they old and over the hill has beens? I have news for you, it is Rondo who makes Pierce Allen and KG look good these days. Why do you think KG gets so many easy buckets at the rim.... or Ray has so many wide open looks from 3pt land. Its cuz of Rondo.

Rondo is a more efficient scorer, a better distributor, and a better defender. You can claim all you like that Rondo has more help around him to up his assist numbers, but the % of baskets he assists while on the floor compared to Rose is a huge difference. And defensively, its not even close at this point.
Rose might very well be a better PG in a couple of seasons. But not right now

Rondo is a better true point guard, he plays better Defense and has more triple doubles... and you cant say he has the big 3 anymore cuz allen does almost nothing for them anymore.

I hate when they give so much love to rookies that havent proven anything as of yet. John Wall is a great player, but can be a flop in the NBA, its not impossible. So to say he is a top 20 player without playing a minute in an NBA game is rather ridiculous.

^thank u kind sir...especially where defense is concerned

yeah the way he finished the season made me think he is starting to understand how to run a team. He is a good defender, and his turnovers continued to drop throughout the season as he moved from combo guard at UCLA to point guard. I think he will be a pretty damn good PG in the NBA.

DaBUU
07-23-2010, 03:12 PM

Only people in Chicago? Cuz all the analysts, GM's, head coaches and fellow players who say Rose is one of the best PGs in the game at age 21 all are from Chicago, right? Sure your PG can be a table setter and distributor if that pretty much all hes capable of like Rondo. Rondo does all the things you mention pretty solid, but Rose is capable of more based on his talent and physical attributes. And Rondo isnt a great defender, he gambles cuz of the Defense behind him and comes up with steals, but i've seen plenty of occasions where he couldnt stay in front of his man getting burned all game. Rose isnt that type of guard cuz hes capable of going out and scoring 35-40 on anyone in the league, why would we handcuff him? Just so he could be a table setter like Rondo? And don't minimize the fact Rose is a better shooter, hes a way better shooter and only getting better. Thats a huge advantage in any of these discussions, your PG cant shoot for ****, he really kind of needs to.

not when he can get to the basket anytime he wants. You are not giving Rondo enough credit on his defense man. he keeps turning guards, and wasting playclock, and is a pest in the passing lanes. His transition defense is awesome, and he REBOUNDS, and essential part of defense. He is a more complete PG right now, plain and simple. Rose may pass him soon, but for now, Rondo is a better PG.

07-23-2010, 03:16 PM
look, I hate Rondo for some reason. maybe the Kentucky thing. maybe that he can't shoot, or just annoys me outright. But the dude can flat out ball. He was the MVP of the Celtics all season long, and they went to the finals and had LA on the ropes.

Alright overall (getting one or two things wrong out of 20 doesn't make it horrible).

Few discrepancies: Considering this is the list heading into next season, I understand Wall has that kind of value, despite him not playing an NBA game. Also, Baron and Parker are too high for me and Westbrook is a bit too low. Swap Curry and Jennings (and take SG Tyreke out of there) and you're pretty good.

Stephen Curry's April Stats:

26 Points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 47% FG, 47% 3pt, 90% FT

^This is what people who like Curry saw. Watching a rookie play like an MVP, basically going .500 playing with D-League scrubs.

Curry went into God-Mode for about half a month and if he can continue that, he will be atleast a top 5 PG.

He won while he was with the Lakers the first time. won with Utah and comes back to the Lakers and takes us to 3 consecutive championships.

The guy comes up huge against Orlando two years ago and single handidly wins game 5 at the end then last year single handidly wins game 3 in Boston then makes huge shot after huge shot against Boston in a game 7.

True that.. Listen up Nash haters, I'm not even a huge fan of him but he must be respected. No he's not flashy and fun like these 25 year olds but so what? He is going to attract even more attention to his shooting this year with Amare gone which means he's going to get more passing attempts. I would call them assists but his teammates have to make the shots. Regardless, Nash is going to be good this year, I wouldn't expect him to perform poorly.

I'd put Paul over Williams and also Stephen Curry should be at least a couple slots higher and so should Tyreke Evans.

Rose is much more athletic and is a better shooter. Also with the addition of Boozer your going to see a lot more pick and roles and his numbers are going to jump. If i had just this next season to think about I would take Rando but for the long haul I would be going with rose.

Oh my god no way! These rankings are terrible! How could ESPN not notice Derrick Rose' potential! This is robbery! I mean...You could have accomplished players like Deron Williams or Chris Paul...but who'd want him when you could have the potential of Rose!?

Definitely not Rondo. Rondo can't even hit a 7 foot jumpshot consistently. Rose has already developed a very consistent jumpshot. That's why he's moving back and is trying to improve his 3-point shooting.

Wall hasn't played a game yet in the NBA. He doesn't deserve to be listed as better than any PG that has played a game in the NBA. Not saying that Wall can't become better than those guys but to say that he already is better without ever playing a game yet is ridiculous.

Get off your knees and snap back into reality for a minute. Why would he figure the triangle offense, which NONE of those 3 guys play, into saying that Curry is better than Rose and Rondo? It makes no sense.

The triangle offense needs floor spacing, not slashers, for PGs. Am I on my knees for saying that Curry is a better shooter than Rondo and Rose? NO. If I was starting a team i would take Rose first out of the three I mentioned. Now stfu and stop bashing people when you obviously don't know **** about basketball
