Has anybody really noticed all of the Big Threes in the NBA:

Boston= Allen, Pierce, Garnett
Miami= Wade, James, Bosh
Chicago= Rose, Boozer, Noah
Golden State= Curry, Ellis, Lee
New York (possibly)= Paul, Anthony, Stoudemire

half of those aren't really big threes
i'm referring to
chi and GS
i think the league should have a limit of 2 max contracts per team only. but then guys will start pulling lepussies and sign for less......

This trend mirrors corporate mergers. LeBron knows he and only one other superstar isn't enough to corner the market, so he merged with two.

There's only two right now in Boston and Miami. NY seems to have the last chance at another big 3 (unless Melo goes to Chicago).

Noah is nowhere near elite and no one on GS is either.

LA has Kobe/Pau/Bynum. That's close if Bynum can ever stay healthy.

I'm not sure about Chicago (and I'm a Chicago fan) and Golden State qualifying there...

But didn't that also pretty much happen in LA a little while ago (when Malone and others joined)? It does seem like superstars (or former/aging superstars) are in favor of teaming up (even if it means taking a paycut) when they begin to get more desperate for a championship. ...I would have said "when they begin to get more desperate TOWARD THE END OF THEIR CAREER" but that obviously changed this summer...

Superstars have always been playing with one another... just not this casual.
3 FA all star signings.. the reigning back-to-back to MVP, a finals MVP and all star starter signing on the same team in two weeks.
This is going to be the new trend.

Boston - could've been a bigger 3 if they go together 7 years ago.
Miami - Superstar 3. No matter who they are. Wade and James + another all star = unfair (It's going to be hilarious when they lose)
Chicago and GS are not Big 3s
NY - That's the trend.

stop using the term superstars so loosely. There are very few true superstars in the game right now.

LOL at G.S. having superstars. If those 3 are superstars, then the Hawks have a freakin' all-star team.:D

The one thing that has kept the league together through the recession and officiating problems has been the parity in the league. You take that parity away and have just a handful of teams that are superstar laden and elite and you mineswell take the cap off and treat your league like MLB does. I personally think the one thing that benefits the NBA is the parity and the thought that almost any team has a chance to make the playoffs and almost any team has a chance to win it all. What im saying is if you take that away and you allow players to take the balance out of your league particularly the NBA and your asking for trouble, big trouble. Everything from attendance to television ratings in the cities that have no shot are going to suffer and sooner or later the league is going to tank.

And bosh isn't one of them he's a top 15 player not a top 5 or 10 technically it's the ''big 2'' in miami. So mabye everyone should stop using the term ''Big 3'' as well what constitutes a big 3?

Media makes big 3. Media makes stars, so media makes big 3.

Remember how Joe Johnson a few years ago was the "unknown superstar" or what not? Don't you think that has anything to do with him on the Hawks and not on the Lakers, Bulls, Knicks, etc. So media constitutes stars.
